Now look at lot of deaf schools being shut down. I know a few good deaf teachers tried to apply for some certain deaf schools and they wouldnt hire them as well. They end up work for a strong deaf community such as frederick, md, DC, Indiana, CA, texas and some schools. My old school that i ve been told that offer lot of special needs lately and the deaf kids transferring to the mainstreaming school. oh well

Frisky, OTOH, that has been happening since the 1980's....I remember reading that NYSS Rome had a lot of mentally handicapped kids in the 1980's. Now its one of those schools that has a seperate multihandicapped program. Heck a LOT of Deaf Schools now have seperate multihandicapped programs
The good news about Deaf Ed, is that Deaf Schools always seem to have quite a few academic students...We really need to get the word out to parents that Deaf School might be a really good option for kids. I think one of the biggest barriers is that parents may think that Deaf Schools are just for voice off kids, or that their orally strugging kid may not be welcome at Deaf School. And hey, Frisk, not all special needs kids are mentally handicapped....there are some mild multihandicapped kids, like kids with Lds or whatever who aren't mentally disabled.

Not only AG Bell..but many many CI doctors and audiologists.


that's why I LoVE audiologists who understand and respect Deaf culture. Mine does so I am lucky to have her. I love her to death. She doesnt pressure me abut getting CIs like the previous audiologists did.

No wonder...

Many students with CI and oral are in ruts when they get out of high school in Saskatchewan.

Three of my friends in Saskatchewan told me that there had been between 80 and 90 percent of oral Deaf people with CI who graduated from high schools on welfare or a measly jobs. My friends told me that the Deaf and Hard of Hearing services in Saskatchewan have been kind of overwhelmed with their requests for helps and also those affected young people desperately needed some good Deaf role models.

Really you know Saskatckewan experinece
I heard news rusomr :shock: I don't understand SPARC strong empower control on oral the force to teacher, I said SPARC can't force me I told it I experience, I am very numerous! SPARC is very oppression I said no more I said stop on SPARA, i am not trust to SPARC is very control force me! I am tried give up I was cochlear implant i remove implant, teacher said no, not allow

I was lucky transfer catholic schoo, I told complaint to social worker many time! tough! not easy! I heard screw up the school behavior , fault SPARC teach worst to affect to serious! I know!
 
Wow. I'm quite surprise you don't know AGB? But at the least, you now know.

I'm nothing against him. I just wish he understand the Deaf Culture and stuff. Ah, well.
