I just found out yesterday my new dog has bronchitis I was told his cough from pneumonia could take awhile to go away. But I knew something was wrong with Marty as he was coughing after playing outside for a few minutes. He may have to take meds the rest of his life as he has chronic bronchitis . The poor little dog he had pneumonia and now he has bronchitis!
Now I know why he was so laid back and quite when I first meet him at the shelter, so was so sick! :(

you have shelter on refer doctor solve dog! It is very sad!

Hope be better your dog heal not easy!

That's interesting. It is usually heart failure when dogs start coughing after minimal exercise. So I guess you are lucky with Marty in that way.

I hope he can improve.

Oh, poor Marty! That little guy has been through so much. I hope he gets better.

Agree with Botts; quite often a cough after mild exercise is a sign of heart problems, so I'm glad at least that it's not that.

poor marty knowing him in a good hand by his good mom to take care of. hope he gets better.

Sorry to hear that Marty's having problems. I hope Marty is feeling well soon.

Marty would open his little mouth wide open and start coughing then he would have to take break before playing again. He does sleep a lot and now I know why! The shelter I got Marty from paid for the vet bill this, the shelter paid about $ 600 on vet bills for Marty! I was really lucky they where willing to pay this much money! I will have to see how the meds help with his coughing, the vet hope to cut the doses as times pasted. The poor little guy been through a lot! He is just starting to thrust me and let me pat him on his little neck! He was abused. :(

Joey was an abused dog too. And sadly today I hit him in the head when I put the footrest of my sofa down and didn't know he was underneath.

He was so shocked, and when I picked him up he was shaking and growling at me. I thought I had ruined two years of hard work, but he got over it quickly and is now sleeping beside me on the sofa.

I was making my bed and Marty was on it and I hit him by mistake! The poor little dog jumped off the bed and started shaking ! I felt horrible! It took awhile for Marty to stop shaking ! He was shocked too! I have to be really careful, if I get upset about something Marty think I am mad at him! :(
Thank you guys for your support!

The things we do to our dogs, and they forgive us anyway. No wonder we love them so much; no human would forgive us as easily!

Years ago I had a dog named Killer with a long tail that curled over his back. I was in a reclining chair, reading, one day, and he was peacefully snoozing at my feet. Suddenly the phone rang, I jumped up, he jumped up, and somehow his tail got caught in the recliner, between the footrest part and the seat cushion part, as it sprang back into normal seating position.

Oh, how he howled! I quickly got him out of it, but poor baby - he was a little bit bruised and quite a bit shocked! And he forgave me, too. Although it took a while before he would go near that chair again.

The poor baby!! I bet he cried like HELL!

He did, he did. He was not a happy camper, not at all. Fortunately I tipped the seat back immediately and got his tail out of it, so there was no permanent damage done, but definitely he was a bit bruised.

This was the same dog who once accidentally got shut up in one room of the house (I was at work; he must have nudged the door closed or a breeze blew it closed or something), and the poor thing tried to dig his way out of the room with his nose! When I came home and found him in the back bedroom, the carpet was all bloody, his poor nose was rubbed raw, he had pulled the curtain rods out of the wall (!), destroyed the curtains, and made a mess (pooped) all over the carpet.

Poor thing. He had gone absolutely hysterical with fright not being able to have full run of the house. He was in REALLY bad shape after that one. After I cleaned up the mess (and bought myself a new carpet), I also bought a good sturdy doorstop so that would never, ever, ever happen again.

I am really careful about opening my door that lead out the hallway as people are coming and going all the time and I do not Marty to sneak out on me as he is so small!
What kind was that dog?

I been thinking about adopt abused dogs from pond one day because they mostly get full and they will just kill some dogs to make rooms for new dogs. It's sad!

It's a great thing to do although a lot of work. And the rescued dogs always know what you did for them, and they are grateful forever.

Wirelessly posted

Sending pats and healing thoughts to. Marty. Hope he's well soon.

I adopted my Pippin from a rescue. Found him on petfinder.com. I LOVE that site. You can search by breed, size, gender, anything you want. Or you could try going to a breed-specific rescue, if you have something particular in mind.

He was a good-sized mixed breed, probably some sort of large fox-terrier and hound mix. He was about 55 lbs., had that lovely fox terrier white face with black and caramel markings, and a white body with one large black spot. He was my guard dog when I lived in Africa and then I brought him back to the U.S. with me. Cost a small fortune to ship him, but well worth it.

I tell Pippin every day that he should be grateful to me forever, but I'm not sure he pays much attention to that. What he pays attention to: "C'mon, boys, it's treat time!!"

He was a very easy rescue. Completely house-trained, sweet disposition, very calm (except during thunder storms, which he does not like AT all), easily trainable. He was taken from an abusive/neglectful situation. I don't know what happened to him exactly, other than he was seriously underweight, and had to be shaved down nearly to the skin due to horrible mats in his coat, as he had not been feed or groomed properly for some time, but it didn't hurt his personality at all.

Pippin, shortly after we got him, shaved down to a crew cut:
