GA illegal immigration bill ruins crops

I first heard of Temple via 60 Minutes or 20/20...can't remember which then not long ago, rented the film. The farmers were heavily resistant to her methods and in fact, heavily ridiculed her caring about the well-being of cows until she pointed out an undeniable truth: her way costs them less money thus would generate more profits than their old ways.

They didn't use her methods because they care about cows, but because they love profits.

Yes, you are right. Temple Grandin is one of my heros. I have a neice who has autism and thinks in the same context that Grandin described.

I love a realist! And an informed and educated realist is a bonus!

That is a good question. That is the reason Arizona and Georgia both passed a version of the Federal Law at the State level - because the Federal Government was not enforcing immigration law.

so you want more government control? more laws?

Guess what? It's the American people that is a big problem in this picture because they are the one hiring and paying the illegals. Why aren't you blaming Americans for breaking the laws and for being unpatriotic?

Funny how folks say they don't want the government to control what they do in their business. Then they turn around and enact even more laws and end up having a negative impact on the very thing they want to protect.

Okay, now we can be certain that there is a deficit in your reading comprehension, because my posts don't say anything close to what you have said they do. Have you ever been tested for this problem?

I believe the deficit in comprehension is in your corner on this one.

That is exactly the point of the E-Verify laws.

I believe I may have mentioned something about that earlier:

http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/news/2011/06/24/e-verify-ok-with-business-except.html

We readily admit that 70 (percent) to 80 percent of workers in the fresh produce industry are improperly documented,” said Tom Nassif, president and CEO of Western Growers, an agricultural trade association. “Under the currently proposed E-Verify system, our industry would be decimated.”

So Jillio ..... how bout them apples?

I just have to point this out: if illegal workers taking jobs away from Americans is such a profound well known problem, why hasn't the government raided those agricultural farms to catch, arrest and deport the illegal workers? It's because the agricultural sector is one of the biggest industries of America. They know it would severely affect the economy and that's the bottom line for them, money. They are willing to look the other way for sake of capitalism.

You know very well that there are many employers who knowingly hired and paid them under the table. and if factories/farms/etc. got caught, they'll just conveniently blame our "broken" system

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. People will do what they do in full violation of the law if it makes them money as long as they don't get caught. Even governments.

so the industry would be decimated if proposed e-verify system took place? I see... so Steinhauer... are you willing to work for lower that minimum wage?

Lets see .... hmmm. Why don't I just grow my own vegetables for absolutely free? They are healthier anyways.

kokonut, it has been and always will be my position that ILLEGALS do not take away jobs from Americans. ILLEGAL take away jobs from LEGALS, who are in their homes waiting on approval of paper work to come and do those jobs legally.

Yup ... enough said indeed.

then why in the world are you complaining about farmers hiring illegals

if you believe it's just healthier to grow your own vegetables.... then don't you think it's better and productive for you to preach about Americans growing their own food? It would solve a handful of our budget crisis because billions of dollars from Medicare/Medicaid/SSI/SSDI has gone to Americans who are obese or have health problems resulting from eating unhealthy food.

btw - you gonna hire that unemployed legal citizen to do some farming for you?

Apparently not, since you have stated in black and white that my posts say something they do not say. So, either you have a deficit in reading comprehension, or you blatantly make up statements you know not to be true. Which is it? Lack of understanding or blatant dishonesty?

Sorry Reba, I'm going to have to be hard-headed here and try to get around the "no religion" rule.
You and I can recall a certain biblical character who wanted to take a girl for wife but the father of the girl said "No" As the story says, God TOLD him to go into servitude of the father to win the girl. There is not enough space for what could have happened during those years of servitude (i.e. death of a character) but the effect was the guy was a slave hoping his payment would be a girl's hand.
Nope.

In post #118:

"No, it doesn't say that God approved of involuntary servitude (slavery)."

Jacob voluntarily served Laban for Rachel's hand in marriage. He could have left without her at any time.

Also for the fact that you, and others, think God did not approve of servitude/slavery, let me use this God was aware there was adultery everywhere but God did NOT make rules for adultery not approve to let it continue.....in otherwords stop it right NOW.
God's "rule" against adultery (also known as one of the Ten Commandments.):

Exodus 20:14
"Thou shalt not commit adultery."

God's "rules" for adultery:

Leviticus 20:10
Mark 10:1-12
