Sarah Palin History Lesson on Paul Revere!!

Why bother going into detail. She made a quick, short historical account. Results? Media ends up with eggs on their faces. Now, they are furiously trying to cover their tracks. End of story.

Not exactly.
Her errrs and ummmms are rather revealing. She just didn't know what she was talking about with the going door to door stuff, the bell ringing. I think she was on Prozac.

But.. that's my point, she "went into a small detail" about P.R. for a generic question. That's why its like ??!?!

I get your point completely, some people just have an agenda to disagree with everything people say here, no matter what.

Why quibble? She was spending time with her family. She said her quick piece. They called on her. Now they have eggs on their faces. End of story.

Good. Don't call them Americans. It's not historically accurate. Colonists, yes. British citizens, yes. British colonists, yes. Americans, no. Until after July 4, 1776 that is.

in case you forgot the history.... Christopher Columbus discovered "country" in 1492 called.... what?

Not exactly.

I can see Russia from my backyard.

Pre-revolutionary troops? Sure. By one day. Paul Revere's midnight ride was on April 18, 1775. The Revolutionary War began in April 19, 1775. And certainly, it was about gaining independence from Britain.

My shrug was why worry about her in the first place? Nothing was said about her historical accuracy with that shrug. I just sat and watched, and smiled.

It's all about me, isn't it?

no. you just sat and quibbled along to this date.

and America did exist prior to 1776 but it was under British empire. Regardless - that country was still called America

and on July 4, 1776.... the Declaration of Independence was announced... meaning - 13 colonies had banded together to declare independence from British empire.... thus a formal name - "United States of America"

*shrugs*

Why worry? She's not running for president.

I'm more worried about the guy claiming we have 57 states.

And really, who cares if she made a stupid error? Same with Obama, who cares that he said 57? These people are generally among the brightest people we have. I doubt any of these politicians has an IQ below 110. They speak all the time, in sometimes difficult situations. When they say something wrong, we make it appear they are somehow stupid. If we base intelligence on minor flubs, I could have a field day around here making fun of all the posts with errors in spelling, syntax, grammar, and the like.

As are the anti-Obama people; storing all these flubs as proof of ineptitude. I think the people with the weak intelligence are the hardcore followers and hardcore haters of both.

My shrug was why worry about her in the first place? Nothing was said about her historical accuracy with that shrug. I just sat and watched, and smiled.

We agreed at the onset.

(bolded) I am not traveling down this road again. We get Reba all fired up. :giggle:

 You know, Christmas Day is basically a combination of celebrating both Saint Nicholas' legacy and the birth of Jesus Christ. Basically, December was the month to celebrate the Saint's legacy and somehow somebody managed to put Jesus Christ in the loop.

Some say that Jesus was actually born in May.. I think it was the other way around in the case of St. Nick. Jesus's birthday was assigned to Dec because of the Roman holiday Saturnalia. Christmas was a Pagan holiday with origins in the Roman holiday Saturnalia.

Now here's someone who knows his history. :D
