Jeep gone

Three more drivers were killed, and one injured today in three separate accidents, all on the same roads that I commute every day. The roads here are lethal to drive on. :(

this is precisely why I want to go to graduate school for. I'm curious to know what would you suggest to make that road safer.

Maybe it's the drivers and the roads.

I'm not a fan of big traffic.

the biggest culprit is the way road system is designed. it's best to strip away everything and make it actually a little more dangerous like the local road in West Virginia. This makes drivers more aware and focused.

Higher IQ drivers.

Honestly, if people would stop at red lights, yield to oncoming traffic, and not make crazy lane changes, it would be a lot safer.

At one of the main intersections on that same road of my wreck, I can count at least three cars per light change run the red light. I think the most I counted were seven one time.

Too many of these multi-lane roads around here have lots of business and strip mall driveways on them. People just pull out from these driveways at 5 mph into 45 mph traffic and expect people to stop for them.

Design-wise, I think these congested business roads should use frontage roads instead of feeding directly onto the busy multi-lanes. But I doubt it will ever happen because no one wants to use more land for the roads.

Congratulations on the jeep. Is it an all time 4 wheel drive or 4x4?
It's 2-wheel drive until the 4-wheel is engaged by a lever on the side of the console. It has 4-high and 4-low options.

I love the lever thing to engage 4x4. Mine's activated by a simple switch. I'm not a big fan of electronic function to do that because it will always be prone to failure :ugh:

however....... the advantage is that I can engage it on the fly... :aw:

I have manual locking hubs and a lever on my transfer case. Can't shift on the fly unless the hubs are locked in. This is very basic and reliable.

Hey Reba, congratulation on your new Jeep Cherokee. :D

:eek3: That's not Iowa! The drivers here are very calm and rarely see road rage and most of them aren't crazy drivers like in Chicago or whatever.

By the way, congratulations on your new Jeep! Glad you found something you will have once again. :)

Same goes with Alabama too, except in some portion of Birmingham and 280 Corridor.

Reba, congrats, that is great news! So happy for you that you found something you like so quickly.

Other than the crazy traffic, how do you like living in Charleston? I've visited there a couple times. What a beautiful city it is. I'd love to win the lottery and buy one of those houses on the Battery, overlooking the water.

I don't live on the Charleston peninsula but in an outlying area, about 40 minutes from downtown.

I love visiting Charleston (I just don't like the drive to get there). Downtown, I like the Battery, the Market, the parks, and all the historical buildings. I enjoy the Aquarium, the carriage rides, the boat rides, and touring the forts.

I don't need a mansion on the Battery but it would be fun to have pied-a-terre downtown, and a beach house on the Isle of Palms.

Outside of the city, I like the plantations and beaches.

I don't live on the beach but I do have palm trees in my front yard. :)

Congrats on getting another Jeep! Whoot! I love mine...and won't give it up, PERIOD!! I'll wait for it till it dies. :) It runs awesome!

until it dies ? nothing truly dies. you can always rebuild just like the car shows do. Most people just toss their clunkers since they dont want to spend the money or time for issues.

Sorry, my Jeep was not rebuildable, nor was it a clunker. It worked fine until the day it was destroyed. It was peppy, an AC that chilled better than our newer Commander, comfortable, a good hauler, and (in my opinion) good looking.

Some of its parts will be reusable, I'm sure. But the frame was bent and twisted, so it would never be the same again.
