We're talking about burqa in public.

burqa in their ID

Photo ID requires your face to be photographed, not the veil. However, walking in public is not the same as having your picture taken for a photo ID.

you may have confused me with TXGolfer.

um... again - nuns are not covering their faces. try to read more carefully this time. I'm repeating myself 2nd time already. Let's not make it 3rd time.

Lets not forget I come from a strong Irish Catholic Family lineage.

I am repeating myself, I come from a long, long family history of Irish Catholics.

Catholic nuns cover their faces with a veil.

Um, you brought up the Photo ID.

right. I stated my stance on photo ID issue. and as for general public regarding burqa, I haven't made a definite stance on it but I expressed my conflicting thought on it hence... the examples like anti-mask law and bank policy.

Do you mean to tell me that in that first pix... Catholic nuns covering their faces like that is same as burqa?

So Catholic nuns cannot wear their habits in public? :hmm:

Its a religious thing. Burqas have a significant religious meaning to Muslim women, it is part of their identity.

edit: I should have said jilbāb

Actually it is not religious, they have to wear clothes that hide the outline of their body and cover their head. They do not have to hide their face, they can show from forehead to chin, it's in the Koran.

And the Koran being the book of which "religion"?

what anti-Muslim hearings? in case you didn't read, this thread occurred in France, not America. and no I don't think their policy is dangerous.

beside - they are free to move back to wherever they're comfortable with. it's free country... but they don't get to make their own rule and they don't get to say - hey it's what I do back in my home country and so should you! :dunno:

I'm sorry...what about photo I.D.? Huh?

No one is confused. You don't seem to care if Muslim women are banned from wearing a burqa in public.
