I'm glad that Obama doesn't defend DOMA anymore so FUCK to DOMA!!!

Obama can give his opinion AND enforce the law.

He can say, "I don't like Law A but until and if it's either repealed or the court declares it unconstitutional, I'm compelled by the Constitution and my oath of office to enforce it."

On the other hand, if the court declares unconstitutional a law that the President likes, then he can still state his opinion but he must obey the decision.

WELL SAID,Amen

You are "glad" that obama isn't doing his job? Interesting

No, I'm glad that Obama agree that DOMA is unconstitutional and stop to defend this law.

I'm hardcore gay rights supporter and proud member of HRC - go figure out. ;)

With whom does Obama agree that DOMA is unconstitutional? Did the Supreme Court make that decision?

No, Obama can stop defend DOMA in court if he knows that DOMA will be unconstitutional so someone will have to defend, especially the House.

How does he know the law is unconstitutional if no courts have declared that? The President is not part of the judicial branch of government, so he can't declare a law to be unconstitutional. He doesn't have the authority.

Again, he can stop defend in court if he agree that DOMA is OBVIOUSLY unconstitutional so someone will have to defend this law, however lower court already ruled DOMA as unconstitutional.

Stop defend DOMA is really NOTHING harmful to president's job so DOMA is really discrimination to gay people. :blah:

The court has declared Obamacare unconstitutional but he ignored that court decision.

How can he ignore some court decisions?

No, not all court, only 3 courts declared health care reform as constitutional since only 2 courts (VA and FL) declared health care reform as unconstitutional so they haven't order to stop the law from implemented yet as Obama appealed couple of court decision so ruling won't be over until final decision made at US Supreme Court.

Obama is FOR health care reform since he is against DOMA.

In other word, lower court declared DOMA as unconstitutional so none of other court has been favor of this law.

How many courts declared DOMA unconstitutional?

Only 1 - lower court.
So how can Obama ignore the Obamacare decision but observe the DOMA decision? Doesn't he have to obey all the court decisions?

So how can Obama ignore the Obamacare decision but observe the DOMA decision? Doesn't he have to obey all the court decisions?

because DOMA and health care reform are not in same situation.

Couple of courts in VA and FL who declared health care reform as unconstitutional and they haven't order this law to be stopped from implemented as Obama is appealing the court decision too and defend the health care reform so ruling won't be final until US Supreme Court to hear, also 3 other courts said health care reform is constitutional as well.

That will be my last answer for your question so I'm suggest you to read news about situation with DOMA and health care reform because you and I are not on same opinion.

For me, US president can defend or stop defend the law in court whatever he wants if he feel law is constitutional or unconstitutional so it won't stop to enforce until ruling has been finalized by US Supreme Court. You are free to mad at Obama for his job so I don't care about it so he isn't in most of your agreement due to his political view.

We already read the news....and we understand it. It is not the President's place to decide what laws are constitutional and what laws are not.

actually it's the President's place to decide whichever he sees fit. It's up to court to rule it unconstitutional or not.

The President can have an opinion....but he should state that it is just that. As you said it is the courts that decide.

opinion? lol there's no such thing as "opinion" especially when you're the top boss. He's the President and he has the authority to implement his policy.

Law and policy are two totally different things....

right. and?

he appoints Supreme Court judge that supports his view.
he appoints Attorney General that supports his view.
he supports constituents that support his view.
and more.....

correct me if I'm wrong... Obamacare is the law now... certainly not his "opinion"
