So I wanted to reintroduce

Hello, I'm Lissa, 20 years old(soon to be 21) from the UK!! I was diagnosed with severe/profound hearing loss at nine months of age, aided with bilateral hearing aids at 12 months old. I was quite delayed in everything(born 12 weeks premature) until I was 2 ish, apart from language and communication(did not speak full sentences till 5yrs)
Anyway I went to a school for the deaf from 3-11yrs old. Was brought up to talk
I got my implant at 10 1/2 years old, hearing aids was starting to hardly do anything, I wouldnt respond to my name. Anyway since my activation day I feel I have done very well with my progress.
Hearing with my implant is not the most important thing in my life, but it is still important for me to hear and be able to communicate with people.
I have been working the past six months in a day care nursery with children aged 0-5yrs. It is hard work at times but that's normal!! my hobbies are spending a lot of time online, facebooking, and chatting to friends!! I have just started driving lessons for the first time, which is so exciting!! Hi to my old pals on here!

By the way, what is your favorite duty with 0 thru 5 yrs old at the daycare??

playing with them. I especially like the preschoolers(when they'll listen) they are coming up to 3-4 years old.
When I started in Aug(end of aug) preschool was hell for me, but now I know how to manage them and they know me and don't test me now :giggle:

Welcome back!! I love the preschoolers and wish I could do that. More power to you and enjoy!!

LOL. I love it when kids play tricks with older ones and got trapped for it. hehe Glad to hear that you are doing well.

Weclome back Lissa, and good on you for getting into Preschool teaching, it must be challenging at times but im sure its rewarding too. I wouldnt do it, as i dislike kids, but probably would do OK with teenagers but im not planning to any of teaching. and lasty can relate to your description of being lagging in school, oral, etc, i was found deaf in same age, Hearing aids when 18 months old too, (way back in 1970s) so as you see, im a old toad lol. I dont plan to have CI, its not for me. I might have to think about a re-introduction of myself as i dont recall to have done any intro lol...

well, cheers for the day

I'm not a teacher. At the mo i work with all kids aged 0-5yrs but my room will be 16mo-22 months

:welcome: back to AllDeaf forum. I hope you can stay around more. So have fun reading and posting all the threads here. I am glad that you managed to handle hearing preschoolers instead of deaf preschoolers. :thumb: See you around here.

:welcome: back, Lissa!!!

I love kids, too. I have 5 nieces, 3 nephews, one great-niece and one great-nephew, btw...
