Nah. IL do written test each four years. It dont mean CA is better drive safety than any other states.
 
Thank god I am in New Yawk, don't have to worry about renewal for 8 years! No retake test is required UNLESS convicted of drunken driving or license revoked then that is when test is required to retake.

I rather 8 years renewal than 4 years.

Interesting California is copy NYS for back of drivers license, mine is pretty much same shown above (Back of drivers license only), as for front, very similiar.

In South Carolina, our retake rules are like your NY rules.

Oregon required to take test every time they renew the license. Don't say that anyone is better when CA is No. 2 highest DWI. :aw:
