Radio Frequency Identification.

new USA passport has RFID and it was a huge security concern because any hacker can easily swipe the info. the only way to protect yourself is to enclose your passport in anti-static bag.

Yep. My old job use RFID card for enter the door and clock in/out.

Ahhh...interesting redesign of California license.
 
Not planning to get new one since I got it recently (had to re-take the test to change the state license) and once it expires, then I'll get a new one.

Once you are a CA resident, you must take the test at every 4 years.

No problem. I passed it easily.
People who passed the CA written test have a better drive safety than any other states. :-P
 
Pretty same with Alabama, they switched to vertical driver license for under 21 in last 5 years ago, I think so.

I did not take test every 4 years for clean record (without tickets) in California and Last year, traffic camera on pole caught me for moving violence and send a ticket mailed me. but, that ticket from Arizona state. strange... whew, i'm lucky. Other states does take test every 4 years as not same like California law.

and... I was waiting to receive a new Driver License during I received a letter from DMV. I'm eligibled to renew DL expired by Dec 2010. I googled DMV online for find TTY number and then, I called DMV for have not receive it yet. They found out and their program has been down. They are working on it. They send me a 60-days temporary DL paper. I said like Aw! and then, I was surprised of new design DL images in DMV site cuz of anti-fraud or someone try to making fake DL for illegal aliens.

Oh wow, traffic camera is stupid and in here, we have none of traffic camera but only police or state trooper are dealing with traffic violation by pull up and issue a ticket or arrest them in some cases.

Yes, I did when I was in CA, AZ and IL but in AL - none at all.

I think that GA has traffic camera on interstate (in around Atlanta) but they are impractical and tried to speed up over speed limit over interstate so never got ticket in mail.

California DMV delayed in processing licenses

SAN DIEGO—The California Department of Motor Vehicles is about two weeks behind schedule in processing license application across the state.

Department spokeswoman Jan Mendoza is blaming the delay on new licenses with enhanced security measures. She says it takes more time for employees to scrutinize the new licenses, which are designed to be harder to tamper with.

Furlough days for state workers have further contributed to the backup.

Mendoza says the DMV processes 38,000 applications for new or renewed licenses daily.

The new licenses include some images that can only be seen with the use of ultraviolet light; the cardholder's date of birth and signature can be felt; and licenses for people under the age of 21 are laid out vertically instead of horizontally.
