Barbara Bush put dead fetus in jar

I have a couple thoughts after reading the thread.

1. Consider the source to the article. Where did it come from? If it was a source akin to the Enquirer, then we shouldn't take this too seriously. BUT...

2. I find the idea of my Mother showing ME a jar with a dead fetus in it, so, this is upsetting.

Especially if that dead fetus was your sib.

No wonder Bush became a coke-head.

Then what am I?

I means Aunt Hilda got a jar of tumour-encased fetous on her mantle.

Uncle Stewie was a panties collector and a ... * face went emotionless *

I don't remember.

I dunno. I haven't studied your habits long enough.

I was wondering why Bush even mentioned it in the first place. I realized that he is using this event to SHOW why he is pro-life.

I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND?!

Why is looking at a fetus make you decide to be pro-life? What difference does it make what the fetus looks like? I'm not trying to spark an abortion debate, but this thought process makes no sense to me.

A fetus looks like a baby -> Makes you want to be pro-life

Does this mean:

A fetus looks like a lump of flesh -> Doesn't make you want to be pro-life?

What DIFFERENCE does it make for the pro-life people what the fetus looks like? Their stance should still stand NO MATTER WHAT THE FETUS LOOKS LIKE.

I know I've brought it up before, but no one answered me. This has been bothering me for a while.

Well, not so quite so... some people don't see 8 weeks old fetus as a human being, yet they're still pro-choice. I guess I suppose some pro-lifers see 8 weeks old fetus as a less human being that don't change their mind either.

Even I know a few people like Byrdie still don't consider fetus as human being until at birth. That don't change their views if they see fetuses. :dunno:

That is what I think...

I know most of you guys really hate Lady Bush, so I respect your views on her. But I feel sad for her loss...

What? Nobody knows the answer. As long as she didn't put a bow on it's head and dance it around like a puppet, it isn't that big a deal.

When I was 10-11 my stepmother's father spent the year in the hospital dying. It was not our state so the schools would not let me in. Consequently, I spent that year in the Drs. lounge at the small town hospital reading a medical library.

I turned out fine?

He IS selling a book. Just saying.

I can't directly answer you, but I will say :gpost:

I agree with your thoughts.

Who knows why it was brought up? I DO know that bringing it up was in poor judgment. Some things are just meant to be private.

I agree, some things are just better to be left unsaid.

If the fetus is a baby brother or sister, that could be upsetting to a sibling.

If the fetus is a lump of tissue, then there's no reason to be upset about it. It's no worse than a jar of kidney stones.

Right?

Pro-lifers LOVE a fallacy called "appeal to emotion." They're using deep rooted emotions to persuade you that it's wrong even though intellectually, it may not be in your best interest in the long run.

We are emotional creatures so expect the appeal to emotion fallacies... even smart people use them to appeal to emotional people.
