I received iPhone 4 last Monday and I play around with it for while. I just realized that multitaking on iPhone 4 is not true "mutlitasking". Unless if some of my existing apps may not be the lastest iOS4 update. One example is when I'm on CNN, and I select to play video. Then I switched to my E-mail to read new e-mail. Then I switched back to CNN, The CNN itself went back to "Home" page instead of continue playing the video.

So, I'll have to play around to see what or which apps that will keep on running when switching from one to another.

I already knew it's not true multitasking that way they make it frozen time while switch to other app to running. That's why they design to make battery being save ass and enjoy more to spend as they able to make more money to see.

Oh good god, you DONT want "full" multitasking. It has proven to be a battery and memory hog.

I don't want it if it's gonna take too much battery and memory.

Apple's approach to multitasking in iPhone is pragmatically the BEST way.

However when you said that the webpage went back to "home" and that's odd... my iPhone G3 remembers which page I go when I switch back. Maybe it's only when it plays videos that it will stop and go to home page?

...or one of the latest bugs?

CNN doesn't support iOS4 yet, that why.

To me my view is that "multitasking" mean that you can run two or more apps running at the same time. I don't care about the battery issues or memory hog. It just the way they define the word "Multitask". I would call it app switcher, it allow to swich apps easily. Since on iPhone, anytime you switched the apps, it "shut down" or "disconnect" or "freezed" temporarly while doing the active app. It's same function as using the button to close and switch to another application. The only thing I noticed is when using cell phone and you can switch to another app, the cell phone won't disconnect. That was it!

I wouldn't call it "Multitasking", it should call it "easy app switcher" or whatever you know what I mean?

It's the same with the iPhone 3G.

Some applications will let you go back to where you were when you left while some applications will start over when you go back.

Again, CNN hasn't update to support iOS4.

Apple doesn't support FULL multitasking however it does support multitasking of processes so if you want to run audio while surfing the Web, it's possible. It's already done. It can process images in the background. It can do a lot but it has to be written to take advantage of API's to allow apps to run processes in the background when not in view.

I honestly believe that all apps should "freeze" when switching except for their processes that need to be processed. You are seeing ONLY one window at a time and it's a waste of battery and memory when you're not seeing it but it is USEFUL if you want to switch to other app and expect the previous app to complete a requested process. Thankfully, Apple allows that.

Really, iOS has always have that ability but prevented developers to have that option til iOS4 by accessing to its multitasking API's.

Trust me, it makes sense to restrict what developers can do. Look at Windoze. :)

Does not matter to me, things can only get better and we are ahead of the crowd, lol
