Facetime video call works on in-flight WiFi. Some airlines have blocked Skype and other known video chat offenders but Facetime video call works fine.

small chance of radio interference with flight transmission. I think its a single digit or decimal point chance, told by a physics prof many years ago but I forgot the number.

Phones have improved since then, but the scope is still on being absolute.

Same problem with reception on my iPhone 4. Download speed is excellent and upload speed is worse less than 200 kbps. First week of July my reception in both of upload and download was excellent over 1500 kbps. What happened to losing upload speed. So I will carry it to Las Vegas next week to take test how speed.
