I really hate McAffee. They're bloatwares and performance hog. That's why I switched over to better Antivirus like Avira. I use free version and didn't have much problems with it except my kid downloaded file that had trojan in it
Comcast in Olathe, KS does "force" computer to download and install McAffee. This pissed me off cuz my friend tried to use the pc for first time after he moved in and it installed McAffee while it already had antivirus installed by me. How it work, when you hook up to Comcast cable modem. Run the browser and it'll pop up window requesting User's name and password as provided by Comcast on the User's brouchers. After logged into Comcast's site and it'll pop up another message that must install McAffee as free antivirus provided by Comcast. There are no choice to bypass it but go thru it. It installs McAffee then after reboot, McAffee been setup then you log back in Comcast's website and it'll verify you already have McAffee installed then it'll allow you to use their service (finally got into website). If you happed to delete McAffee and use other Antivirus. Comcast Cable modem would not bother you until you actually reformatted or moved to new location. It'll check if your pc or laptop have McAfee. That's something I really hates it so much.
My RoadRunner cable modem don't do this at all.
It seem Comcast "force fed" users. This should be illegal!!
