Now that The Obama version of Health Care has passed it's time for those of us opposed to it to figure out how we can get around it. Better to plan now than hope the Supreme Court saves us. Of course we only want legal solutions.

A few were brought up in another thread.

For small businesses you could fire your current employees and use temps from an agency or replace them with contract labor. In Texas you can keep a temp for 4 1/2 months. If you replace with contract labor be sure each person sets a DBA as an added precaution. It would be a good idea to a local CPA to find out how that affects you locally.

Another option is to outsource the projects that you can. Obviously you don't have to pay for insurance for someone overseas.

For individuals it may be more complicated. It may be easier for individuals just to take advantage of the subsides by deferring what pay you can into pre tax retirement plans or company stock options.

Discuss your ideas.....

Or we can actually be nice to employees and offer them insurance instead of revenge.

It's not about revenge.....It's about making a profit. It's not easy for small busness in this economy. A large precentage fail. Something will have to give. At a minimum wages will come down. IMO

It is about greed..not offer people health insurance becausse they dont want to pay for it?

Greed? Do you realize how many small businesses fail? Do you realize the type of innovation new business has brought to this country?

I do think the gov't should make it easier for small business to afford insurance without raising the price, and without putting them at risk of losing their business. It is true, small businesses do struggle.

Make $3 per hour at job without federal minimum wage won't enough due inflation.

revenge???? how is it a revenge?

Some people are like that. They don't want the gov't telling them what to do, so they find a way to cheat out of it even if it just small amount of money (I'm talking about other things, not the insurance).

I seriously doubt it. Do you have any idea how hard and costly it is for small business owners to find skilled workers? the time and cost will be wasted to train new one. Quite a handful of small business owners tend to keep their workers for a long time and pay them quite generously.

But not asking for cheats here. Legal options

I gave my best workers housing. I had a 4 plex of two bedroom units. Government didn't make me do it...lol

well if you are making a profit before, it doesn't hurt to offer insurance. What you can do hire people at a lower salary to pay for their insurance. Since they don't need higher salary anymore to pay for healthcare and private insurance anymore. UNLESS you are already paying miminium wages.

well, TX was willing to lay them off and get temps.

One little flaw......When pay drops in order to compensate for insurance costs......SS contribution is also decreased. SS is already in a bind and facing the onslaught of baby boomers.

Tax revenue also decreases at a time why our government is spending more as well. nThat's the whole point that people don't get yet. The economy is a delicate balance. A little tweak here causes a little change elsewhere. But this bill if upheld is like throwning a giant weight on one side of the scale.

For people that like the bill, good for them. For those of us that don't we need to prepare.

The majority of them failed in the past and last time I checked, it wasn't health care. It's often poor management of money.

If you think that healthcare is gonna get you in the way then you're not fit for business management whatsoever.
