The Sunday news and the calls that would follow.....Politicians always fear the Sunday news...

Looks as though it will pass Stupak is a yes now. He said Obama promised to issue an executive order banning Federally funded abortion. Record 3:15 as the time on Obama's broken promises clock. In the real world at least one congressman would change his vote to No now because he wanted abortions paid for......I am sure Obama told them not to worry, he won't actually follow through. Just trying to get the votes.
Duly noted.:deal:

If this legislation is truly worthy on its own merits, what's the big rush?

It would be better for the members of Congress to spend the day (Sunday) in prayer and fasting, and then cast their votes tomorrow (Monday). I don't see how the Lord will bless this government action occuring on His day.

Might wanna tell that to every single corporates out there... like Wal-Mart that make people work on Sundays.

It's not a delay. Sundays are not normal Congressional work days. It wouldn't be a delay. It would be following the normal work schedule.

What are they afraid of? :hmm:

I don't see that they are "afraid" of anything. Why do you equate conscientious behavior with fear?:hmm:

I don't view their actions as conscientious behavior, so there is no equation.

I wonder...where would all those upstanding church goers eat lunch if it were not for the amoral heathens that work in the restaurants they patronize after services?

Last minute deals, Saturday pep rally.......There is fear.....Stupak just acknowledged that the bill would not have passed this morning. The executive order "saved the day"

Whatever Congress does this Sunday will effect all Americans.

Whatever Wal-Mart does on Sunday effects its employees only.

I don't shop at Wal-Mart on Sundays.

I can opt out of working or shopping at Wal-Mart.

I won't be allowed to opt out of the health care legislation.

I know that it's unusual to see Congress work any day of the week and how that might create anxiety. I think that we'll be ok, though.

A lot of Americans can't afford to opt out of a Sunday shift. Either their boss will fire them, or they are having a hard time finding a job elsewhere.

The only businesses I see that don't work on Sundays are the mom-and-pop stores-- and those places are not good sources of employment.

I won't pay. Going to restructure my charitable giving as well.

Chick-fil-a.

Really beside the point though. Question is....why schedule a special Sunday vote for something that is 4 years away? My belief.....Fear. with a dash of PR of course. Walking in with Civil Rights fiqures from the 60's has less dramatic effect on Monday

Exactly.

Unfortunately, we won't see any reform regarding one's religious stance without seeing massive repercussions.

At least in Alberta, when it come to renting, a tenant can select what days they don't want to be disturbed by their landlords for religious reasons. Was disappointed it wasn't the same case in B.C. Not sure about the States.
