I'm not sure if I screwed up or not. I know there was another thread I started, but I can't for the life of me find it.

I bought a D-Link DIR-615 router for my desktop. I have AT&T high speed internet. I also have a netbook that wanted to be able to use with the router and my high speed internet.

When I originally set it up, everything was working fine. There was a problem with our home phone and it was temporarily disconnected for 1 day. When it was reconnected, I started having problems with getting my netbook to connect to the internet through my router. For some reason it says that the certificate is not found or something like that.

I don't know what to do and I'm getting frustrated beyond words. Can anyone help me with this? I don't know all the techie language so bear with me on this.

I had a similar problem with my netbook and same router. It took me a couple of long phone calls with D-Link tech support to get it resolved. Eventually had to remove previous wireless network and set up a new one.

Did you trying resetting your router by pulling the power plug for at least 30 seconds, then plugging back in? That's the simple first try.

Did you download latest firmware update for the router?

Your internet connection is PPPoE instead of DCHP? Did you set up your username (email address of AT&T) of ISP and your password.

Ok, Did you install Dlink s wizard cd into your computer? what s version of your Dlink DIR-615? B1 or C1 or none? You look it under panel. Do you have Sorenson VP200? Don't work wireless network from router?

DLink-615 C1

I did do the CD wizard installation. Everything was fine until the phone was shut off and AT&T turned it back on. The internet never shut off, but, I'm not sure how to explain, but there was kind of a "blip" with the internet and my desktop was taken offline then went back online. At that point the networking did not work.

Now, when I try to connect the netbook to the network for internet, it says it cannot validate the certificate. I am using a password protected status as we do not have trustworthy neighbors. Now, I can't even remember the password. I tried to remove the network from the netbook and start all over, but it keeps popping back up with the network there.

Right now, the netbook is turned on and the antivirus is running. After it is finished, I will be able to do what I need. I have told the son he is not to use it today since I want to get this running.

Ok, you can contact Purple support to solve problem or Purple contractor will fix it. I wish to fix your router but too far to your place.

I guess you may not understand totally - my P3 on the netbook works fine, if I use a slower connection to the internet through a neighbor.

I am just trying to get my ACER Netbook to connect through my router and network to the internet. I do not have a netbook from Purple.

My desktop is an ACER Aspire One desktop and my netbook is an ACER The desktop has Windows Vista and the netbook has Windows XP Home, 2nd edition.

Umm Let you know that D-link is unreliable wireless router.:mad:

I really suggest Linksys router because it so much better than d-link.

Honestly, I buy d-link router from purple and set up to work ATT Speedstream unforunatly it doesnt work. So I said Screw d-link and get Linksys which my friends recommend. I buy it and set up again with ATT speedstream. It work perfectly!

Really! I former worked for Sorenson. D-link was fine with speedstream modem when installed them in many years. I now work for purple and installed wireless D-Link DIR-615 with AT&T speedstream modem for customers. no problem. you should disenable
network pin and Enter an 8- to 63-character alphanumeric pass-phrase.

I think that better get another AT&T 2wire wireless modem bulit-in router. no need D-Link or netgear router.

I use Speedstream modem for DSL and it is okay, instead of att, I use Windstream.

Windstream is phone company that serves in rural area and small/medium cities.
 
I would suggest that it's the Modem itself. Because the phone that you metioned was cut off, Phone line is outside of modem unless you have AT&T U-Verse Modem/router. What DSL is that it uses filter to separate DSL from phone line. You might want to check the DSL filter to be sure it's correctly connected as labelled. Usually SBC/Yahoo modems tend to be very finicky. If you added new connection to router, It'll crash the modem. You'll have to reboot modem each time you have new connection to router.

So try unplugging the DSL line and removing filter and test to see if the phone works. If phone works fine, then plug in DSL filter and then plug in modem ect. See if phone still works even if modem plugged in. If phone won't work, Then it could be a weak power going through. Need a phone line amplifier to boost the power on phoneline. Just the suggestions.


My friend have SBC/Yahoo DSL modem and whenever he unplugs the power jack and move it then plugged it in, modem breaks. He had to get replacement. It was his 3rd time.

It apparently SBC/Yahoo buy cheap crappy modem that craps on user when they make changes.

AT&T modems also can be really a pain too. One of them are not SIP Videophone friendly. I've learned that.

True, I had worked for Purple and former Sorenson. I had gotten big headache to fix customers' old 2wire modem/router and AT&T U-Verse modem/router for connecting with SVP and MVP. Speedstream router is not worse. Cable modem and router is very easy to install but some customers can't afford to pay for higher cable modem bill. I'm disgusting to AT&T modem/router.
 
i went to see my customer two days ago to add a router. I saw a webstar modem..it is a shitty modem. I replaced it with motorola sb5101 modem. VP and my netbook was working, but customer's laptop was not working because of Vista. I fought with that laptop and tried to replace a router with Dlink DIR-615...it won't cooperate either. I returned a router back. I was told by FHD to reboot the laptop...voila...it worked. Gosh.. Stupid vista program.

Hello Oddball, I had same problem with my Vista notebook. I fixed to reboot it and work with wireless network. Other netbook and XP notebook were fine. I really hate Vista OS. Should install upgrade Windows 7.
 
Linksys default firmware sucks if you are heavily P2P users, such as use torrent so often, it could cause to crash and very hard to fix it.
 
dont know if you have't resolved your issue...

connect your laptop to the router with a cat5 cable and log on to the router itself to see what's going on in there if you are still having problems

also make sure the wireless nic is turned on on the laptop
