Have any of you guys experienced this: Hearing things as if your hearing was turned on for a short time, then off...

I mean, a person profoundly deaf since birth - can hear every sound for a few seconds then back to being profoundly deaf...

That person also accurately describes all the sounds he has heard.

Sooo.. i wanted to see if you guys have any stories about this.

i have! My friend claims that her ears would open up for a short time. Then closing back off. She as well described the sounds that was around at the time.

It happened to me a few years ago while I was living in LV at that time.

I heard every words as watching the closed captioned on TV. I found it so weird because I discriminated every word.

Next day, I heard nothing. zip, zilch, and zero.

I have even thou I am hard of hearing. But from time to time I will hear something and will check out what the sound coming from. Even if I asked my son where it was coming from. He is hearing.

This has not happened to me, although at the edge of severe/profound I guess I would always hear something. But not like perfectly clear understanding. :hmm:

I have a confess.... I can see sound people

okay, sometime I thought I imagine I hear something...

Good, Glad to know I am not the only one.

It's quite odd because you just know what the sounds are. It's pretty amazing. You would think you need to be "trained" in hearing what the sounds are, but man, you know what it is instantly.

I told a few people about this and they were like :wtf:

Actually I thought this was a sign of auditory nereopathy. They are mostly "deaf" but every so often they'll be able to hear.

I used to have something similar with my vision. I have astigmatism in both eyes, but every once in a while I would be able to see perfectly clear without any glasses or contacts or anything... until I blinked and everything got fuzzy again.

You must have had tear buildup equating to a pair of temporary very fragile contacts.

No, not me but I have heard some soft click sounds and my dad thinks I am hearing the house settling. How come he couldn't hear that?

Once in a blue moon, my ears would pop and I could hear much better but it rarely ever lasted more than five minutes and I've not had this happen to me in many years.
