Michelle had a very lucrative job in the health care industry. She probably made more than Obama early in their marriage. Now that Michelle has children, she is a hands on mom.

She didn't quit her hospital job until she began campaigning for her husband. She was a working mom until then. She quit to campaign, not stay at home.

I think teachers, firefighters, and officers deserve a shot at winning this prize! :D

Peace prize

You wouldn't think that maybe a President that promotes the idea of peace would get a prize for it? Peace does not just happen by talking about it but it does have to start somewhere and talk is where it starts. In the here and now the new leader of America is getting a peace prize for having talked about it. Whether you like it or not that is logical. Especially when you realize that he is the new Commander-in- Chief of the military engaging in war in two countries.
It is not out of line for a committee of people anywhere that believe in trying to end the destruction and slaughter of war to try and encourage the public mind to consider that some people really care about that. What better way to try and remind America that just a few short years ago it considered itself to be
a peace loving country? Whether you think they are right or wrong they are saying their "peace" as effectively as they can.
A short off topic note here. When Obama was being elected and had gotten elected was the first and only time I heard active discussion by fellow workers that included shooting the president as a topic. When I protested I was turned upon by some of these workers to the point that I was publicly verbally assaulted in the airport here by one. I did not vote for Obama but I am still an American and he is my President and I am thoroughly disgusted at
they way I see a lot of fellow Americans acting. By the way I went on to quit
that job on the day celebrating when the "Prince of Peace" was born rather than beat that fellow worker with my fists. Cost me thousands of dollars in lost wages. I would not change what I did at all.

Well said. And we need to keep in mind, as well, that Obama has taken action that was directly in line with his philosophy toward the change needed in foreign relations. So his philosophy is not without action.

That was certainly a disgusting way your coworkers behaved. It was totally wrong for them to ever suggest shooting the President, and totally wrong for them to attack you for speaking up.

I'm very sorry that you had to quit your job. You did the right thing to speak up, and it's a shame that you have to suffer for it.

You did the right thing of avoiding a fist fight. Did you try to file a grievance at your work place?

I hope your employment situation has improved since then.

I agree. There should be no suggestion about shooting or killing our American president from us Americans. Just as I have protested when Randi Rhodes made a shooting noise over the radio about Bush while she laughed about it, or that a fictional book written with Bush as the main character in an assassination plot, or have protest signs that says "Shoot Bush" or whatever and so on. Simply not....right. People may not like their president but that's not an excuse to put a bullseye over him wishing him ill or death. The heart of any controversy is the disagreement over a policy decison or direction, and not about the person himself as the object of contention (e.g.. skin color).

Congratulations for what? He hasn't done anything measureable yet. It's like giving a first place award to a wrestler who hasn't even gone to the mat.

bad analogy. poor sport. I believe I can safely say Obama has done something measurable than Beck + Limbaugh + Palin combined.

Measurable like trashing America and siding up with terrorists and despots while ignoring Democracy and freedom in action in other countries? Pretty strange if you ask me.

Talking is the first step.

Talking is the first step.

He basically partied and took a vacation during his first 12 days and then he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize before he had a chance to do any talking. Or anything at all for that matter.

I see. so that's what you see. That's fine.

I'm continued to be amazed at your spinning skill. Such a talent gone to waste.... shame. Still clinging onto that, I see.

Pretty narrow-minded if you ask me.

Cause he didn't do any talking at all during his campaign.

(Note: sarcasm)

Beware the mesh bag.
