Cool. I am surprised to have a thread devoted to it, but why not?

My older daughter took me to this place that has pizza and foods, and then you buy a card to play games.

I amassed a lot of points playing Skee Ball. A small amount went to get that little purple teddy bear. The rest are being saved.

My daughter wants to take my granddaughter, (her niece) who is 2 into this place when she has enough points to get one of the big toys. My granddaughter likes to play these games, but doesn't understand why she doesn't get the big toy.

SO this is my daughter's plan for a thrilling outing. I imagine it will be memorable.

I remember I used to play Skee-Ball at the carnival when I was a kid. I won a few times. I got some stuffed animals. It was fun!
Boy, I haven't played Skee-Ball in ages.
 
My bros pretty good at skeeball, he once won a giant stuffed snake(I bought it from him) Another time he won 3 giant stuffed animals and the owner actually said he reached the limit and couldn't play more(well he could but only for fun and not get more prizes) I gave it a try with no luck.
 
I hadn't done it for ages either. I kind of think it was a fluke. I don't remember being good at it before.

The carnival game I used to like was throwing baseballs to knock things off a shelf. I had pretty good aim and used to win.

Also the one where you throw little rings over things? I got a couple of pocketknives that way once.
 
oh, I did love the Skee-Ball! As a kid, I used to go to one of those places where you could eat pizza and had all the different games and the balls you jump into and the tunnels you climbed through and I would just play and play Skee-Ball, mostly! I got lots tickets and stored them in one of my folks empty check boxes til I got enough for a BIG prize, not like a sticker or something - in my kid's mind I wanted the stuffed unicorn or whatever!

Several years later, as an 19-yr. old or so, I went to one of those places when I worked as aide in Summer Rec. Program working with Deaf kids and kids w/disabilities. One of the youngest kids lost one of his hearing aid when he jumped into the pit of balls <it was later found after much searching>, we had kids running around minus shoes and socks cuz they were supposed to take off the shoes to go through those tunnels and of course the socks came off too <and there were hoards of kids there, not just our group or course> and I jumped on the trampoline and came down wrong and sprained my ankle. That day I sure woulda liked to have been 7 or 8 again!

Like a miniature bowling lane with baseball sized hard balls. You bowl them up the lane and land them in various holes with different point values.

The more difficult holes have higher value.
 
They gave prizes in the form of Pocket Knives?! Wow! I don't think that would be allowed anymore.

Okay, for the people who do well; do you aim for the top corners? Or for the top middle one? The top corners give more points, but they are harder to get.

And I always aim for the highest number middle hole. Going for the really high ones on the top, usually gets you into the lowest scoring bottom hole.
 
Skee ball is a game where they give you about 8-9 hard, solid balls.
Then you roll them across a flat ramp, which has a lip at the end.
When the balls hit the lip, they jump up, and then they can land on a tilted board. The tilted board has concentric cirles with holes in it, surrounded by much larger lips... The holes have different values, based on difficulty.
The ones in the middle, with the lowest being the lowest, and then increasing as you go up, because if you miss a hard one, you have a good chance of landing in another one.

In the top corners are the hardest but most valuable holes. The reason they are hardest, is because if you miss, there is almost no way you can get lucky and land in another hole.

I have not played that in 4 years when I was in Wildwood,NJ. I love that game :)
