WASHINGTON - She wore a lavender pantsuit and purple rage.

Secretary of State Clinton, who has been dogged by questions about former President Bill Clinton since his rescue mission to North Korea, blew a gasket Monday.

The flareup came at a stop in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on her Africa tour.

During a meeting with Congolese youth in Kinshasa, a university student took the microphone to ask about the growing influence of China on the continent and then added, through a translator, "What does Mr. Clinton think about it?"

The kid may have been sandbagged by a poor translation from the French, but Secretary Clinton was having none of it and snapped back in a rare public show of temper.

"Wait, you want to know what my husband thinks? My husband is not the secretary of state - I am," Clinton said angrily.

"You ask my opinion, I will tellyou my opinion. I'm not goingto channel my husband," shesaid, leaning forward in herseat and pointing with bothhands at the questioner.

Clinton then sat back, clearly exasperated, as the moderator moved on.

The young man who posed the question approached Clinton later and said he was trying to ask about "President Obama" and not Bill Clinton, according to ABC News, but the damage was done.

Clinton's blowup came in the course of a grueling seven-nation, 11-day trek across Africa to press causes she has championed on battling AIDS, corruption and the oppression of women.

But former President Clinton bigfooted her off the front pages last week with his surprise trip to North Korea to bring back two jailed female U.S. journalists.

It started to look like there was a foreign policy Team of Rivals, both named Clinton, in the Obama administration, and the one called Hillary is getting ticked off.

Her husband's star turn was the latest setback for Secretary Clinton in attempting to grab the limelight for her "smart power" agenda at the State Department aimed at melding military and diplomatic pressure to deal with hot spots.

Clinton was sidelined with a broken elbow in June. Her debut back on the world stage with a major foreign policy address last month was knocked off cable-TV news by a live Obama speech on the economy. And Obama's own extensive foreign travels have overshadowed Clinton's.

The crack about "channeling my husband" seemed to be a reference to rumors in the 1990s that Clinton as First Lady, had imaginary conversations with the late First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.

Clinton later joked that that she did talk to Roosevelt, and, "She usually responds by telling me to buck up, or at least to grow skin as thick as a rhinoceros."

Hillary Clinton loses cool at question on Bill: 'My husband is not the Secretary of State, I am'

I saw that on the news. I am not surprised she reacted. She is right that she is the official.

Her husband is just a former president.

Go Hilary!! She is damn right! Bill Clinton is not a secretary of the state, she is.

I love that bitch! :giggle:

Oh, I wasn't aware that was Hillary. I recently saw her on the news. I guess I didn't recognize her.

Interestingly enough, no one ever comments on what male politicians wear or their bodies.

I would have responded the same way. Why would anyone ask what her husband thinks? They should ask him.

Remember the guy who offered to buy Hillary's daughter for cows and goats? Uhhm, we don't sell women because they are not property. She handled that brilliantly.

She didn't handle that very professionally. She could have just cooly answered, "You'll have to ask him that question."

Suppose she had been elected President; would you want her to "lose her cool" in a crisis?

As Secretary of State, she has to deal diplomatically with people all over the world. She better get a grip.

I can understand where she is coming from, though. People probably ask her about her husband everywhere she goes. It definitely could've been worse.

i got a feeling that someone asked her over and over the same thing about her husband, not her. so she lost her temper and spilled out of it. I would do the same thing if i were her. eh. i must be a bad committee member if i did. =X

Lose your cool alright ;)
Have a good day :) Mwah!

She is human. We all make mistakes and sometimes on the job too. Anyone who criticizes her for that is expecting perfection from a human being. Good luck!
