Here’s Why You Should Never Run Over a Mattress

The owner of this vehicle came in complaining of a “shimmy” at high speeds. I guess 60 pounds of wire wrapped around the driveshaft will do that. More pics after the jump!

We must watch out for mattress on the freeway or roads that should not run over the mattress - YIKES!!!! :eek3:
 
Dang that's stupid.

I remember when I was driving on the freeway, there was a king sized mattress on my lane, so lucky I had plenty of time to switch lane as I wouldn't want to drive over it with my old truck.

Whoa, dangerous and major repair bills. ( maybe bend driveshaft or rip the shaft seals of the tranny or axle, can be ignite fuel leak where the wire meshed wrap the driveshaft and whip the gas tank) Ive seen those mattress on the freeway be4.

Yeah that's right.... Sheesh Dumbass drove through the mattress and ended up with that.......

That's harilous!!! I would die laughing If I see those. I bet it take cutting torch to remove the matteress wires off the shaft.

Dang! Had something similar happen to my riding mower. Hit a roll of barbwire. :shock:

And those little plastic garbage bag.. I advise to avoid those as well. Last week I hit one and it stuck to my muffler. All of s sudden I started smelling burning plastic all through the car.

Pulled over and saw it stuck and burning on my muffler. I peeled it off and went on my way. I could smell burning plastic for a week while driving.
 
I am surprised the car was still able to run after getting all that tangled up!

u crazy. No way to torch the fucked meshed mattress springs looped on the driveshaft is in place of the vehicle. Gas tank!!! u instant. I wud advise a customer to replace a new or reman. complete driveshaft (come w/ new U-joints) and replace seals if necessary. Easy money than the dirty work. If u want to cutting the fucked meshed mattress springs, how long will it take? 2 or 3 hours? Waste.
