Obama says health care this year — or never

but why would they fool with their medical card? for what?

but beside that - it doesn't matter what you do, people will find a way to commit fraud/crime. you can do same with microchip - just simply take out a scalpel and cut it out and then put it in somebody else. it's not that deep inside.

But it would leave a noticeable hole where the microchip was removed. Plus that's highly unlikely that someone would go to that length, and microchips are something we don't have to worry about - too many religious conservatives would be against it as it would be another step towards Revelations.

it's the same hole as it was first implanted. you simply need to make tiny incision to take it out. I only hope that it's not mandatory. I'm sure they will issue several ways such as medical card, e-inks on skin, etc.

FYI, I am not worryin' about it. I don't let it to get my hair to turn ALL white! Movin' on, please.... and don't think about me that I am worryin' about over little things. :)

If you are not so worried about this stuff, then why do you always make such senseless posts that sounds like you're obsessed about this? It's getting rather old.

:nono: not at all.

yes - those computerizing stuff.... that's within hospitals. It's not the same as national ID however - in Denmark, they do have centralized database for health records... meaning any hospitals/physicians can retrieve your medical file and see your medical history. That will never happen in America because we value privacy and despise anything that reeks of Big Brother.

Right now - your record is done by papers and kept at filing cabinet. Because of that - that takes time to retrieve it and it costs money to store many files. Because of that - there's a high chance of errors such as doctor prescribing you antibiotic but didn't see that you are allergic to specific antibiotic in the file because your medical file is too thick or maybe the handwriting was too messy to read. Because your medical file is not easily accessible, your hospital stay is longer and some diagnosis are repeated and more time is wasted... thus causing your medical bills to run high.

With computerized system - the computer will warn doctor that you are allergic to certain antibiotic.

I like the idea of the computerized system - better access to vital information that can alert doctors to things that you could be allergic to or whatnot, or that you may have Alzheimer's (if you had it and you were found wandering the streets and was bought into the ER). But as far as microchips, I would never allow such things in my body, but I know that it's NOT going to happen. If it did, we would most definitely all have a COW. Maria is just too obsessed and worrying way too much about this crap. Maybe she's watched too damn many movies or something.

I like the idea of computerized as in having everything on computers, it would take a lot LESS space than it would if we were to store everything on paper and store them - there are so many people in the USA and so little room to store them. What do we do when we run out of space? It would be better if we computerized everything. My only concern is privacy - I hope that they will continue to follow the HIPAA laws when they computerize everything - Privacy is still important - if a doctor wants information about me from ANOTHER doctor I would like it if I had to SIGN a WAIVER for that. There should be a waiver for everything so that there is no issues with privacy - except in serious cases such as someone who has SEVERE Alzheimer's so they can figure out who that person is and whatever - many people in the end states of Alzheimer's often can't speak for themselves (I have watched my ex-roommate's sweet grandmother suffer from and die progressively from Alzheimer's for 6 whole years, and it was so sad) and a TINY bit of information should be left public such as allergies because ALL doctors needs to know so they don't end up giving you meds that could kill you if you are allergic to it) but otherwise pretty much everything should remain confidential and in accordance with the HIPAA laws. Patients could choose to decide what medical information should be left public and what should be kept private and requires waivers to release the private information to another doctor. I would NEVER recommend microchip implants, but just recently someone invented medical bracelets that someone can CHOOSE to wear that stores vital information in the case that there was some sort of accident where the person ends up unconscious, the ER can use the bracelet to find out who that person is so they could contact the person who takes care of the patient. Of course, wearing a bracelets should be a CHOICE in most cases except in such as Alzheimer's patients. They sell them in pharmacies now for about $30. It has a usb port, sort of like a memory flash card but it stores your information (whatever you choose to put on there, anything you want, you are in total control of whatever information you want to put on there) and it is on a bracelet so you can wear it on your arm or ankle.

I am also seeing more and more clinics and doctors having all their RX's printed off of computers instead of handwriting - that greatly reduces serious errors due to doctors' famous messy handwriting. You would be more sure to receive the correct medication and the correct dosage because it is easier to read printed RX's and it leaves very little room for mistakes and the pharmacist can read it and know what you are supposed to receive - thus reducing serious errors that could make you ill or kill you or just because it simply was NOT the medication that you need but something else and you end up not being treated for whatever condition that your medication was supposed to treat. You could remain ill for longer if there was a mistake made. Printed RXs reduces mistakes and I really like that. Also it reduces the chances for wrong doses as well. The other day I had to get a medication refilled. The RX was handwritten in this case. It was for 100 mg but they tried to give me 75 mg and I had to tell them to re-check the script because it said 100 mg not 75 mg (I was able to read the script well enough) so I made them re-do my RX and at first they didn't realize it was a mistake but I made them show me my RX again and I showed them where it said "100 mg" and then I was immediately given the correct dosage. This RX was handwritten but I was able to read "100 mg" well enough as I had double checked when I picked the RX up from my clinic, before I left the front desk where the nurse was at. The pharmacist probably could not read it right (I think she was new, she's only worked at my pharmacy for the last couple months) or she was trying to stiff me by giving me less than what I need. I hope it was just a mistake and they aren't stiffing me as I have gone to their pharmacy for the last 3 years and have really liked most of the staff and have developed a trust relationship with the pharmacists there except this new girl which I can't judge or speak for yet (if the mistake happens again I will be speaking to the senior manager to make sure something is done about this). I dunno, but I caught the mistake right there at the pharmacy which is good as I never leave without double-checking to make sure all my RXs and dosages are correct.

microchip is implanted in the body fat, not in vein or wherever. Beside - I highly doubt people would allow themselves to be implanted with microchip. but there should be several ways to be identified by medical - a medical card, medical bracelet, or "e-ink" (it's like a barcode tattoo on skin).

No way.

It would make me feel like I'm a Nazi victim in a death camp. ALL Nazi victims were forced to have numbers tattooed on their arms during the holocaust. Uh, no thanks. Come up with something better, please.

WTF are you talking about? Health care has nothing to do with national ID card.

As usual, you don't make any sense.

Jiro understands better. It's between him and I to discuss this issue, not you. :)

Well, if you don't like to read my posts, then find elsewhere where it will interest you. Don't bother to post if, you don't like to read.

Not paranoia or nonsense. Some people are being "watchful" and that doesn't mean that they are being paranoia. They are just keepin' their eyes out for deception/deceit, because some of them are VERY patriot people. They are for this country.

Maria, you live in Florida, right?

Ever heard of the Baker Act?

No. I like to read AD. Your posts are just not making any sense, that's all.

that's why there are several options for you to pick. Of course - you and I will not opt for e-ink or microchip. NO WAY! I'm fine with wearing medical bracelet.

That e-ink or microchip option is good for people are mentally-illed or frequent goers to hospitals. It would be convenient for them to not carry those identification with them because they will forget or lose it.

microchip/e-ink would be a preferable choice for..... say heart attack-proned person, diabetes, etc... where you can suddenly suffer from it and be unconscious when you're in public. It would be easier for doctors to scan you and administer proper care for you quickly.

ooooooo be nice :)

Nah, this is an open forum. It's all about health care I can discuss with Jiro for his opinions. Will you please lay off ? :ty:

No. Not even for mentally ill people. Medical bracelets are a better option. It isn't fair for mentally ill people to lose the rights to their privacy.

Then why are you saying the phrase "between him and I"? "Between him and I" means that it's private. If it is between him and you, then go take it to PM. Otherwise, do not imply that it is private if you want to continue talking about this in the open forum. It isn't private if the whole world can read what you say, anyway.

medical bracelets and e-ink/microchip function exactly the same thing. Both contains information. I know you're getting the horrible image of holocaust prisoners with the ink imprinted on their neck/wrist but it's not like that.

I guess, you did NOT read what my first post was when I ASKED Jiro a question. It wasn't a private, Lucia. I was askin' him for HIS OPINIONS. Some ADers followed and discuss this matter as well, not just only me.
