Gingrich in 2012?

I think Newt Gingrich is a good Politician, but I don't believe that the majority of conservatives wanted him in office. He committed adultery - cheating on his second wife. He had good chances but he blew his chances.

I kind of doubt that he would go for it - he is probably happier with being a politic advisor/analyzer and teaching at various colleges/universities.

Gingrich is less scare than Huckabee, anyway.

Why would you want a newt in the oval office? It was bad enough having a chimp in the office for the past 8 years. Let alone the idea of allowing a newt to take over the country.

Now I wonder why a Canadian is concerned with USA policies/presidents..... Just curious.

Because we have CNN too. We have to hear about it everyday. USA this, USA that, USA blah blah.

. . . He committed adultery - cheating on his second wife . . .

Take it a step further, Brian. He not only committed adultery on his wife, he asked her for a divorce on her deathbed, as she was dying of cancer.

A self-proclaimed "man" like that doesn't deserve to be president.

He deserves this: :rifle:

OH NOOOOOO, Canada will have a mass influx of people.........good thing that's where our breeder lives and she has big house.....:D

I'm not defending Newt (not at all) but I want to make a clarification. Jackie Gingrich didn't die.

"It's hard now for Jackie Gingrich to talk about her life with Newt. Her daughters are grown, and though she talks with them regularly by phone, Jackie lives alone in Carrollton, still teaching, and tutoring at night. She no longer has any contact with Gingrich whom she refers to as "the congressman." "I do not talk to him, he does not talk to me, and I do not even get junk mail from the office." "

I stand corrected. Thank you, Reba!

Interesting to see this old thread. As Reba already pointed out, Jackie wasn't on her death bed. Newt's daughter sets it straight.

That doesn't change the fact that he did cheat on her, and then again on another wife, and was the first Speaker to be brought up on ethics charges and fined in excess of $300,000 if memory serves, took 1.6 mil in payments from Freddie, has been using scam type methods to raise money, claims to be a "historian" but walks around with a diamond encrusted Tiffany bookmark, flip flops every time he opens his mouth, and is an opportunitst that never states his beliefs. His stance changes according to who he is talking to and how he thinks it will benefit him.

Looks like people were right way back when this thread got started.:laugh2:

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP)–Rep. Newt Gingrich has settled a lawsuit brought by his former wife.

Jacqueline B. Gingrich has alleged in January that the Republican congressman failed to pay his $1,300 monthly alimony on a timely basis along with premiums on a life insurance policy for her.

In the settlement, Gingrich agreed to make his ex-wife a beneficiary of the first $100,000 of coverage in his life insurance policy, his spokesman, Allen Lipsett, said Monday.

Gingrich who is House minority whip, stopped paying on the policy after his lawyer advised him it was no longer necessary under the terms of the 1981 divorce, Lipsett said in January after the lawsuit was filed.

Marianne and Newt Gingrich have acknowledged pain in their marriage before. But the apparent end of their 18-year union came as a series of shocks nonetheless to the woman who had stood by her man during his stormy tenure as speaker of the House of Representatives.

Marianne Ginther Gingrich was visiting her childhood home in Ohio in early May to celebrate her mother's 84th birthday when her husband phoned. After offering birthday wishes to his mother-in-law, Gingrich asked to speak to his wife. Virginia Ginther soon found her daughter in tears.

"I said, 'Marianne, what's wrong?'‚" Ginther recalled yesterday. She said Marianne replied: "He doesn't want me as his wife anymore."

There was a second jolt soon after. Newt Gingrich, now 56, informed his wife that he was having an affair with a congressional aide, a woman 23 years his junior, Ginther said.

"I was totally shocked," Marianne Gingrich, 48, said yesterday in an interview from her home in Marietta, Ga. "I had no idea."

This week, a judge in Georgia gave Marianne's divorce attorneys permission to question Gingrich and Callista Bisek, of Arlington, about their relationship.

Not to mention the fact that he refused to attend his sister's same-sex wedding ceremony due to his views against homosexuality. He also believes that gay Americans should be not allowed to get married since it would hurt the sanctity of marriage. Yet he has been married three times.

What a hypocrite.

I get the impression some people will vote for a Republican even if he's a serial killer because they think Democrats are more evil than serial killers. :P
