I love having her, 26 pounds or not. I have tried so hard to get her to lose weight without success. She refuses to let her vet diet food work! 
Anyhow she is a big bundle of fur that is nice to cuddle up with when she's not mean and sassy 
We have the same situations here Jiro. The only difference is we allow our dog wardens to confiscate the animals for being homeless with their owners due to insufficient care of the animal.
A response to your first paragraph--no. These are two separate issues that we are talking about. A hoarder suffers from a psychological illness whereas a homeless person with a pet doesn't.

Afterwards some cracker and plain white cheese. That's all I am allowed to eat today since I had some "croquettes" the previous day and my intestins are still working on all the fat... urgh...

I talked with our vet and she said to wait until Millie was a year old before starting a diet. I did, but I think waiting was pointless. By then she was a good 18 lbs. I have had her on diet food ever since (she just turned 5, so she's been on diet food the last 4 years) and she is not free-fed, meaning she only gets 3/4 of a cup a day, THAT's IT ! And she still won't lose weight - she keeps ballooning! I saw a new vet and she said Millie clearly has a problem with carbs and recommended I take her off dry food and switch to the same amount (3/4 cup) in canned, and I did, and still no results, after 6 months .. 26 lbs heavy ??? :jaw: Your cat is over two times heavy than my all cats...
