Darn good question, at first I was thinking of battery overflow, but again usually it is plastic tubing not metal. Then it could be fuel overflow but I could be wrong.

I would have to refer to owner manual or Clymer book.

I tried looking around but I don't see any.... maybe I missed it again. I hate not knowing anything INTIMATED about my bike :mad2:

btw - what's battery overflow?

ah-ha.... a fellow biker from other thread just PM'ed me that it's a 12V accessory plug. SWEET! :cool2:

On these "wet" batteries that have acid filled in, it can overflow and there is tube to guide the overflow acid to ground rather than spill on motorcycle parts.

Are you sure? It does not look like that. If it does, it would have shown brass or copper pins or something like that.

yea I guess he's pretty sure cuz I posted it in Chain Gang forum (a reputable forum only for my bike model). It did look like a cigarette lighter electrical plug but I wasn't sure since it's way down there. I think it's designed for Battery Trickle Charger :dunno:

I find this rather odd.
:dunno:

can you trace it and see where it leads?

Looks like an accessory plug to attach 12volt recharging male connecrors (ie cell phone, ipod, nudie bar lights, etc)

after further research... I need to use BMW Accessory Plug Adapter to use any of stuff like GPS charger, cellphone, etc.

Cool!

Be Sure that you don't drop the GPS charger, pager and cell phone while recharge and ride! :P

Interesting. Sometime there are some odd something on motorcycle or ATV ect. My co worker bought ATV from China (he bought it cheap) and received it and it was partly pre-assembled. As he assembled his ATV. He was puzzle where one of the tube belongs to. He followed instruction and could not find what it suppose to do. He said all the other tubes been hooked up to carb, fuel, vacuum ect all plugged in and there's one sticking out of nowhere. He fired up ATV and it ran just perfectly fine. I told him it could be a breather tube or a overflow tube. He agreed with me. I told him If I were you, I would dig it deeper and follow tube what it came from and go to any local ATV shop and ask them what the tube are supposed to connect to from the origin. They'll tell me what it supposed to. He agreed with me.

That was almost couple years ago.

Sometime motorcycle have some strange extras or something sticking out which you thought it wasn't supposed to.

Hey Jiro, Why don't you use dentist mirror or some kind of mirror, using flashlight and look through the hole if it have a contact with plastic around it. Then you probably it's a 12vdc like other blogger says.

it was an add-on accessory to have a direct access to battery for battery trickle charger otherwise it takes about 15 min to take 3 covers out. The battery will go dead after about 2 weeks of no riding. I read that F650GS bike has a rather weak/ineffective alternator. :dunno:

Whats wrong with Germany? That bike cost alot money and got weak or ineffective alternator? What a crap!
