Just starting a fun thread with you listing any personal experiences or stories u have heard that are just so ironic.

Here is mine:

My dad is severely hard of hearing due to losing his hearing in the last 10 years from listening to loud music and is having trouble understanding people but refuses to get tested for HAs. However, he has stated that he has taken ASL classes when my brother and I were younger and tried learning more signs during his visit here 2 weeks ago. Oh the irony!

What about u?

It happened about six months ago. I was clearing through some of my CD's and found back CD's from a friend we (bf and I) hadn't seen in two or three years. I asked bf what to do with them because I usually am the type of person returning things when I borrow them. Somehow those got lost... and since I found them back, my next goal was to obviously return them.

Bf says... I'll give him a call some day...

I shrug it off and place the CD's on the nearby chestboard so we wouldn't forget about them. Later that evening as we were lying on the couch and watching TV the phone goes off. Guess who was on the other end yelling: Hey how are you doing?

:giggle:

Weird... almost spooky...

I had a less than pleasant high school experience even told off the superintendent but now I'm subbing at my alma matter (although under a new administration), they enjoy having me around as a sub when as a student I was little more than a fly on the wall.

As a substitute teacher - I LOVE it.

Shel90, I had the same problem with my mother who lost her hearing probably for about ten years too. I had asked her to get a hearing aid for herself so that she can hear the sounds and she said no. So I don't paid attention about that and hope she will get it someday later. Then my sister asked her to get an hearing aid and our mother said no. She just don't want to wear hearing aid. I am thinking that maybe she found a quiet environment and not heard any noises that bother her. I am not sure what she was thinking. Then why do I have to put on my hearing aid in the first place when I was almost nine years old? I did not want to wear my hearing aid back that time. But now I am use to wearing my one and only hearing aid which is my left ear. I am deaf in my right ear as I can not hear if I use the hearing aid. I do take it off when I don't want to wear it. So that is normal. How irony.

My dad is now nearly deaf. For years he always gave me a hard time for not understanding speech or things going on (such as a TV show that wasn't captioned)...even though I have profound hearing loss. He always made me feel that if I didn't understand something, it was because I wasn't trying hard enough. Which is crap!

He now tells me how difficult it is for him to follow along a simple conversation. I used his words and said, "Guess you're not lipreading hard enough..."

He nows require CC on his TV...and for years he refused to let me have it.

Karma bites.

I have one!

I went to a neighbors house talking to her about her dogs coming in my yard hanging out. Because my dog was in heat. I kept her inside. Neighbor said better watch her or a dog will get her. I told her I keep her inside and only let her out when I am there. She said that my other little male dog can get her pregnant. I told my neighbor the male is too young. and Laughed.

Came home to find them stuck! She will have puppies in April.

I have similar one to Shel's.My dad always berated me for years for not being albeo th ear now he is losing his hearing. Like the other day he was waiting for a phone call on his cell so he left it on and stuck it in his pocket. He sat there for two hours waiting for this phone call while watchin TV (in which he has the volume turned WAY up!) He got mad an was like "Why hasn't he called me? Did he forget?" I said, check your phone to make sure the ringer is turned up and that you have it on vibrate so you can't miss it. He had the the ringer on and sure enough he missed 4 calls from this guy.

I guess this counts...I have always been a rather anxious person. Lots of talking and loud noises made me uncomfortable and people talking together at once made me disoriented and anxious. Now, I'm going deaf. I don't have to worry much about that anymore, do I!

When I was diagnosed deaf at 9 months old, my Late Grandfather said "she'll never hear birds sing" Today (30 odd years on) my grandmother told me that when my mum called her on the 12th febuary that i heard the birds for the first time few days beforehand, that day was the anniversary of Grandpaw's death, she cried for my grandpaw to wish that he was here to experince my first bird singing with CI. How ironic.

This is ironic in the sports world. My fave NFL team NE Patriots , Tom Brady got injured the opening season against KC Chiefs. Now, Matt Cassel (former NE Patriot , QB) is going to KC Chiefs:hmm:
