Dayton Mother Caught Breast Feeding and Driving

KETTERING, Ohio -- A Dayton mother is facing charges for breast feeding her daughter while driving her other children to school.

Genine Compton was pulled over by Kettering police Thursday at Far Hills and Dorothy Lane while taking her other children to school.

Police say Comptom could have injured her child and others because she was breast feeding and talking on the cell phone while driving the vehicle.
Compton was issued citations for child endangering and violating the child restraint law. Compton told News Center 7 Friday, "If my child's hungry, I'm going to feed it."

Police say it is against the law to drive with a child in your lap. Children under 4 or 40 pounds must be properly restrained in a child safety seat.
In this case, officers said Compton had the child in the lap with the baby's head up against the steering wheel. They say there is not only the risk of a crash, but deployment of the airbag.

Compton said she will take the advice of the officers into consideration, but she may breast feed her baby while driving in the future if she feels that is is necessary.

She could face up to 180 days in jail and fines for the child endangering citation

Omg not even JUST breast feeding but talking on the phone too?? WTF?
Imagine if the air bag went off........ not a pretty picture.
 
If. her child is hungry, then the mother should pull over to some where like maybe at rest area and then, she can breast feed her child. More safer than takin' a risk while she drives. She needs to use common sense for safety reason.
 
OMG... She's driving, breast feeding her baby and talking on the cell phone at same time... She's crazy!!!!
 
Geez, That's whacked.

How can she manage doing that all at once by breastfeeding, talking on the cellphone and putting her hand on the steering wheel? I imagine she probably was using a bluetooth but still, that leaves a lot for her to be able to get in danger.

I just don't see how it is possible to breastfeed a baby while DRIVING at the same time. You've got to whip out your breast, and latch it on the baby, and hold the baby's head at the correct angle in your arm for it to be able to suckle to extract the milk out of the breast.

That's just crazy.

Okay, people are normally born with two hands, right? Let's see...one hand would be holding the child's head and body up in the correct angle for the mouth to latch on the breast nipple to breastfeed. The other hand would be on the cell phone holding it up to her ear. That leaves ZERO hands to hold the wheel to drive. How the hell did she accomplish driving with a baby in her lap, one hand holding the head and body up to the breast, and the other hand on the cell phone up to her ear? Her laps would be already occupied with the baby's butt and legs in it, so it would be impossible to drive with her thighs. :shock: Oh no! Maybe she was having one of her other children hold and control the wheel for her? (I have seen people do this) Or was she born with 3 hands? (Note: I am being sarcastic.)

Then PULL OVER and PARK in a parking lot so you can feed the child...simple! :roll: This woman wins THE IDIOT OF THE YEAR award from me. She endangered herself, her baby, and her other children, as well as the other drivers who were also on the road! She should be charged with child endangerment and reckless/inattentive driving!

If she is serious about this, I hope the DMV will permanently revoke her license so that she cannot endanger her children's lives as well as the lives of the other drivers by continuing to breastfeed while driving. Is it really so hard to just pull over? I mean, didn't they teach this woman how to PULL OVER and PARK in her driver's ed class?

I have no issues with breastfeeding, but not while driving.
 
I guess she was one hell of a busy woman...she should get someone to help her with these kids. :/
 
whoa. 180 days of jail who will watch kids while she go to jail. tsk tsk im sure that she will pay the huge fine and not going to the jail. she probably will take community service and class.
 
Totally unaware of what the words responsibility and security mean :roll: So good that nothing terrible happened... this could have ended in a whole different way!

Ask her kids to handle Cellphone for her and tell caller to call back LATER! and turn off the phone!!

Baby CANNOT die in a seconds when baby is hungry. I heard this word before and parent act like they must feed their child quickly once whining for food :roll: .

Plug pacifier into baby's mouth UNTIL AFTER she drop her kids off to school
PARK her CAR on Parking LOT then Brest Feed!! Simple as it!! (KISS!!!!)

Sheesh! What a nut she is! Do multi-tasking while driving without hand on steering wheel and......

what if...

Deer jump in front of her...
Blind man crossing the road in her path...
Cocker Spaniel slipped through between parked cars into street by surpise...
Kids ride bike on right side of street suddenly made a left turn into path of her car..
Garbage truck backing out into street...

What if...

Baby is first thing to die on steering wheel cuz of Airbag's force are incredible and fast.

My experience with airbag was incredible., I wrecked my van and airbag deploy in split second and slapped both of my wrists while my hands are on steering wheel (luckily, I was wearing a jacket which minimize pain greatly)

So I can imagine that baby's head would been like an Eggplant if Airbag deploys

Who's responsible for baby's death, --->> Mother!!

This is sad thing what some mother would do such things.

Better learn to feed the baby an hour early before doing the runs!
 
What a mother done is irresponsible and senseless. It´s sad to know that her children look up their mother´s role...

I personally disagree that she should go to jail because put her in jail cost taxpayers... They should have her driving license suspended for few months and penalty fine. She should pay out of her pocket, not rely on taxpayers´ cost for her stuipd and irresponsible.
 
she crazy im sure they not allowed have feeding during drive include breastfed! if mother need stop they can breastfed they leave and drive that it!

mostly mom never breastfed during drive but im sure they can allowed include husband nor family member OK! but my cousin Becky also breastfed of their 3 children but she cant drive but she can drive because she still nursing when her 3 children were newborns after her children was baby they she can drive!

IF i have my own baby somedays i would rather not drive like her! but if my parents or my family taking me and my baby anywhere i can using bottle and dont using breastfed in public!!!!!!!!!!! i know mostly mom always do that in public its embrassment!

Not all mothers use bottle to feed babies. I've seen some mothers breastfed their babies in public when I used to live in Alaska. One deaf woman ( I will not name this person's name to protect her privacy ) exposed her breast to feed her child. Mother wasn't ashamed or embarrassed of it at all. It's natural. She even chatted away with her friends while breastfeedin' her kid.

If she can keep track of all that at once maybe she should be an air traffic controller?
 
She could breastfeed me while she's driving
