6 figures to be "middle class" in NYC!

Jersey City is.... O-K. I almost lived in there but it's still expensive if you want to live in "good area" of JC. Most of it is very ghetto... it's full of hispanic people (not that I have a problem with them but they're "poor") and there are many sex offenders around the blocks. In my town - there's only 1. If you recall in news from last year.... there was a major bust on worst pedophile offender in JC.

JC's still going thru major transformation to SLOWLY phase "poor people" out but it takes a decade or so. JC is being rebuilt by NYC rich people because Bergen County is already overfilled by suburbs and families. NYC rich people want to have city-suburb hybrid so JC is it.

None in my town....

What district/city are you around in NJ? Is it comparable to NYC?

:mad2: where is LONG ISLAND! Long island *hint* lots of seminaked chickies live there. :naughty:

Don't see any Long Island subsection there, dunno why. Is it a city?

physical features is a plus, but it takes more than that for a lady to get my attention! I know when they get older, they'll lose some spunk, and their youth for sure! I don't want to end in a divorce, so I step back and I make my choices wisely..

I'd see if they like exercising, sports, outdoors, smartness all weight a lot, mentality, psychology, personality, are all huge factors that I weight as well!

Bring it on.

Byrdie, what's the city you are going to be moving to in WA?

Byrdie, what's the city you are going to be moving to in WA?

Currently in the zip code of 98640 going to 99201 at the end of the month.

9 hour drive across the state! :dizzy:

City of Spokane is where I am moving too.

Alex (administrator) and I live in Bergen County. Living Cost-wise... yes it's comparable (for NYC - upper west, lower west/east, Central Park area, Park Ave - those are millionaire's domains). but of course - it's different because BC is suburb.

:laugh2: not surprising. It's the "outlier" of Manhattan - extending eastward.

That's a lot to be able to live comfortably in New York City.

Just remind me not to move to NYC any time soon!

Anyway - I was thinking - As we all know, the economy crisis is not going to get better any time soon, How would all those people in NYC be able to fend off their finances to be able to live comfortably? It's especially when there's a lot of job losses going on across the country.

Still, That's got to be tough to make a living over there though.

Oh shit! It went up from last time I heard. That's way toooooo high income. My cousin lives there though, I wonder how he's handling it over there. :hmm:

oh no - you can live in NYC but you just have to expand your comfort zone and get used to small mouses/cockroaches/crazy bums  That rent is usually up to $1,200 but there are plenty of places around NYC (Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem, etc) that can be SOMEWHAT affordable. Again - you simply need to expand your comfort zone.

If you want a nice clean apartment in NYC.... good luck!

Mouses? Cockroaches? Forget it - I'm not getting there!

Around here, If you wanted to rent a place for $1,200 a month - It would be equivalent to having a 3 or 4 or 5 bedroom house. That's how far it can get here.

To live comfortably and have a quaint small place with at least 2 bedroom - It'd be like at least around $500 to $600 a month (of course it goes higher depending on the location though)

The $$$ amount mentioned in the article is a HUGE understatement.

The average monthly rent in New York is $2,801 - yea... that's the average for rat-infested ghetto apt. You want a "nice" one? or even decent one? That's at least $3,500+ for 1-BR. Half of my condo is rented out.. with at least $3,400/month

You need at least $250,000 to be "comfortable" middle class around here. $123,322/yr will get you a mediocre living condition around here. :mad2:

Wow. I knew there was a reason why i don't live there. You're the angry man for a reason, I suppose. :mad2:

yep.. I used to live in Virginia for 3 years. Amazing what $800/month can get you. :mad2:

I'm literally swearing worse than Christian Bale who blew up at Shane (Director of Photography) on Terminator 4 movie set)

My requirement is to live near to or in metropolitan/city. any suggestion? :mad2:

Seattle, Washington? San Francisco? Los Angeles? Dallas-Ft Worth? Houston? Chicago? Washington DC?

1. too cold
2. too rural
3. too costly
4. NY laws SUCK compared to NJ

From what I've heard--NJ isn't a bed of roses either.

when i went to gallaudet. They asked me, " where you are coming from.: I said, " L.I." they say, " ohh illinos?" i said no no "NY" then they say " ohh NYC!!???" I said " no no thats LONG ISLAND. their facial expressions were puzzled and asked, "where?" i asked them if they ever seen the funny long island right next to new york. They nodded slowly and realize it now.

1. too cold -- I cant lie! :eek3:
2. too rural -- Not really maybe becasue i lived in LI that is very similiar as where i live now. :nana:
3. too costly ------no no no what do you think why i live here in the first place. i bought the house that is much cheaper than NYC/LI. <--double $.
4. NY laws SUCK compared to NJ --- :hmm: speeding ticket?? i got ticket from NJ. :mad2:

Oh please.... hahaha

2. too rural -- Not really maybe becasue i lived in LI that is very similiar as where i live now.
yes I know. The NY towns next to NJ border are same as well but they're costly. The area you reside in is cheap even though its suburb area is same as LI is because you do not have close access to major metro-areas + NYC. I need to be next to metro-area.

3. too costly ------no no no what do you think why i live here in the first place. i bought the house that is much cheaper than NYC/LI. <--double $.
no no - NY gas cost is OUTRAGEOUS!!! NY has tax on clothes and higher tax on goods.

4. NY laws SUCK compared to NJ --- speeding ticket?? i got ticket from NJ.
NY driving law and penalty fees are beyond OUTRAGEOUS.

Seattle, Washington? San Francisco? Los Angeles? Dallas-Ft Worth? Houston? Chicago? Washington DC?
Seattle.... too rainy and gloomy for my taste
S.F..... I dislike it very much
L.A..... perhaps
Dallas-Ft. Worth.... not too Asian-friendly, I think
chicago.... too emo for me
D.C..... I wouldn't reside in DC but I'll settle for Virginia. I like VA's gun law :cool2:

From what I've heard--NJ isn't a bed of roses either.
I agree.

Jiro, why do you dislike San Francisco? The city has a large Asian population.

My cousin used to live in Manhattan for free (provided for by his employer). He said that London (where he currently is located) is far expensive than NYC.
