My friend told me that her friend doesn't know what to do! because her half of my baseboard heat is frozen.

Her furnace with hot water. She uses lot heat with a wood stove and a pellet stove. Yesterday She doesn't feel alike put woods in stove or pellet then she turns on furnace and the baseboard heat is not working in three rooms. She is very upset and sure enough baseboard heat are frozen. Last night, Her dishwasher machine was frozen! Her downstairs not use toilet is frozen too She contact with heat plumber.

Make sure if you don't use Furnace heat with hot water.. You need to tap little hot water running in sinks!!

I feel sorry for her! She is single mom! :(

yike! just wrap insulation on pipes! it's inexpensive but time consuming

If the pipes already froze you are not supposed to try thawing with running water. That can break them.

We found using a blowdryer on low setting will work.

My mom's house was outage of power due to icy storm last month ago. Her house had no electric for 4 days. It's very COLD inside. My mom put a little drip water on all sinks and bathtub. Everyone worried about my mom's house with pipes getting freeze. Her brother in the law brought a Kenmore heat to keep pipes and house warm. My mom cried and want to have a Christmas party at her house. We saw the lights turn on! Finally! I hate the winter season!!!!

Phillip, Is your friend's house have no power due to weather advisory?

OT: (sort of)

If you have any can sodas in your car, take them out right away. I opened my trunk this morning to discover that 2 cans of diet Dr. Pepper had exploded all over my books and dvds I keep there.

Ooh... that sucks!

Happened to me once.

My parents used to have an old refrigerator in the garage that they use to store drinks. We just got home from Sam's Club and my mom asked me to put the drinks in the fridge in the garage. When I went in there, I noticed that it was full... but there was room in the freezer. I didn't think it was a freezer cuz it was one of those one-door refrigerators and thought the top was just extra storage for small stuff. So, I put the extra sodas in there. A few days later, my mom went out there to get some drinks and saw that it was messy. Yep, the sodas I put up there... exploded.

Another time, I had an unopened can of Coca-Cola on the floor of the back seat of my car. It was during those long hot summers. (This was the summer where we had 2 months straight of 100+ weather.) I went to my car and opened the back door. I found that can of Coca-Cola. When I picked it up and closed the door, the bottom started to pop out a bit. I was like, "Oh, shit!" When I walked some more, the bottom started to pop out much more. I thought... "Oh... SHIT!" I walked a little more, then the top started to pop out too... "WTF!? SHIT!" I started running and as soon as I felt the can rumbling, I threw it. When the can was 15 feet in the air, it exploded.

Yep, it exploded from overheating.

That totally sounds like movie manuscript material. You should look into something along that line!

Her house is big home and power. I think she have 9 rooms, so She decided to shut 4 rooms with no heat from fire/pellet stoves So now half baseboard heat of rooms is frozen. :(

Ever see that episode of The Simpsons where Bart decided to play a prank by shaking up a can of beer and leaving it for Homer to drink? Only... Bart does it in the most extreme manner. ;)

(Season 4 Episode 18 - So It's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show)

Interesting thing about water, Water is only liquid that expands when cold.

There are other liquids that expand when they're cold too. :)

Well, as I understand it, water is only thing that expands when frozen. I'll believe that unless shown otherwise. You are one that said that there are others, the burden of proof is on you.
