I went out last night at a friend's house with few other friends to play card games and other various games. I had a lot of fun last night which was worth it.

Well, Of course, There were booze involved. I had too much to drink last night and as a result, today I'm reeling in with a massive hangover. It feels like I've been hit by an 18 wheeler truck or a train, so to speak.

I've heard of various tips to get rid of an hangover. I was wondering, If you guys have your own remedy of getting rid of an hangover? Any suggestions?

For me it is food, sleep, water, and pills after pills of tynelol! LOL!

Prevention Techniques

Almonds American Indians claim that eating 6 raw almonds before imbibing helps prevent intoxication.

Bifidus powder Put a teaspoon of bifidus powder in a glass of water and drink before going to bed. Bifidus is the "friendly" bacteria that detoxifies acetaldehyde, a digestive byproduct of alcohol that is a major cause of hangovers.

Evening primrose oil helps prevent hangovers. Take two teaspoons.

Eating a meal high in saturated fat causes the effects of alcohol to peak earlier and last longer than diets high in polyunsaturated fat. Research at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Peanut Butter Eating peanut butter before drinking is an African remedy.

Prickly pear cactus extract (see remedies below).

Sports drinks, high in electrolytes, will help replenish what the kidneys have excreted during drinking. Take before bedtime.

Time imbibing Women who drink right before menstruating when their estrogen level is low are more prone to get drunk and are more nauseated afterward than during the rest of their cycle.

Tomato juice To help stop the urge for alcohol drink a tangy drink, such as tomato with the juice of one lemon added.

Water One of the best preventive measures is to drink 2-3 large glasses of water before you go to bed. Drinking alcohol is very dehydrating and hydrating your system helps counteract the effects of the alcohol.

I was told the same thing too. Also another tip I was told was to drink a lot of coffee. Now, I'm not a fan of drinking coffee. That also wouldn't work for me, lol.

I eat bread to keep me from getting nausous. That happened only once back in the college. I was so sick the next day after the party and I couldn't keep anything down. Even just water. A friend suggested that I try eating bread so it could soak up whatever it is. It worked.

eat fatty food for berakfast, liek fried eggs on toast, the little water, and gingerale its beeter than lemonade, stay away from coke...too harsh .sasuage.....depending if you canstomuch it, it help absorb stray alcohol into the meat and you shit it out...and lots of rest too.. but fatty food are hard to disgest but thats what your stomuch lining, needs dont take milk, you'd puke it out again.......

i was also going to suggest coffee, sleep and tylenol, but since you don't drink coffee...perhaps some hot tea will help? :dunno:

if you're unable to keep food down, another good idea is to nibble on saltine crackers.

There isn't really a cure for hangovers.

The best way to reduce a hang over is to drink plenty of water while you drink alcohol.

I've never gotten drunk nor have I ever gotten a hangover. That's because I drink water from time to time when I'm at a party. Water is free. A small cup of water between heavy drinks or beer does the trick. :)

that's what i've always done and i've never had a hangover once.

i only think of just plain toast bread or toast cinnamon bread, drink a little water slowly and little milk to let your tummy to get settle down somehow.

When there's little or no water in your stomach, you're getting a high concentration of alcohol in your blood. Since alcohol dehydrates your body, it leads to headaches and being tired... hence the hangovers.

When I am planning on going to a party, I'll stop by someplace to get a quick small meal like a double cheeseburger and small fries from McDonalds. I'll also bring a bottle of water with me when I go to a party. If I'm playing a drinking game, I'll drink some water during the game. When I'm done with the round, I'll refill my bottle. Never failed me. :)

(The food slows down the alcohol going to my blood.)

I've seen some of my friends who think eating is bad and go to parties without having anything to eat at least 6 hours before the party. After a few bottles of beer, they're wasted to a point where they wake up the next morning wondering if they had any fun or not.

Interesting, Thanks for sharing this link. I've heard of various stuffs but Peanut Butter? Now that's something new. There's the more the reason why Peanut Butter is good for you. ;)

Yeah, I took tylenol and drank a lot of water yesterday with plenty of sleep. Today I felt much better and was able to get rid of it. Next time, if I plan to drink alcoholic beverage - I gotta bring a bottle of water with me.

The only actual cure for a hangover is "time"

Time for your body to process and remove alcohol from your blood.

Your body does not only remove it by urinating. You also breath it out. Ever wonder why you can smell alcohol on someones breath when they are hungover? Not from the stomach it is actually your lungs.

Dehydration is a major factor of being hungover so drink plenty of water.

The remedies may help you feel somewhat better. But the actual cure is TIME.

This may be disgusting

Someone told me that going poop helps a lot cuz a lot of the alcohol is concentrated in the poop. I guess it does help..lol. *runs away*
