i think she's making a sarcastic reference to tin foil (or more accurately, a tin foil hat) being used as a means of protection against a nuclear attack.

all of the references i've read in regards to aluminum foil and tin foil hats had to do with protecting oneself from a nuclear attack.

Some paranoid/conspiracy theory people believe that using aluminum foil wrapped around their heads will prevent the government from reading their minds or subjecting them to mass mind control. It's also handy for blocking out space alien transmissions and looking "cool" at sci fi conventions. :giggle:
