Unfortunately, yes it does

In fact, it isn't uncommon for severely mentally ill or Deaf people to be shot by police because they don't respond to their requests. I think it's sad. :(

Yep. I've lost a friend that way. I remember him running around the track saying I'm proud of the deaf and then one day a friend of mine tells me the cops shot him because they mistook him for someone else and when he didn't respond they shot him dead.

I'm sorry to hear about that.

How many people on AD are planning to work for the President of the United States?

Not me!

Too much responsibility!

I like my life just the way it is now, thank you very much!

The closest thing I would do is get involved in campaigns, but nothing more.

You and me both, Lucia!:giggle:

Gun restriction law would cause increase more republican and democrat with pro-guns (conservative/moderate) on seat in congress to overturn Obama's gun restriction, that's compare to Bill Clinton in 1994, republican has took seat and became majority in 1994 to overturn Clinton's gun restriction, it would happen in 2010.

In our country, majority of citizens are pro-guns.

For me, I prefer to keep same gun control in our country, not tighten or bill could be killed.

I respect your POV on this.

I personally do not against guns and respect the gun owners for want to own the gun for good reasons BUT... many people are not responsible enough to respect the guns or just too plain stupid to handle guns responsibly. Many people abuse the 2nd amendment and think freedoms are cool, when they can handle them. Look what and how they shoot innocnent people including police officers... No wonder, why it make Police Officers paraniod... and use their word "because I thought......" after learn that they shoot or taser to kill unarmed people...

Look many shooting or taser threads at sub-forum under Current Event... I fail to see why some people said that it's "just accident" when we debated in gun control threads or under current event where the unarmed people, pregnant women, children etc were injuried or killed by police officers and people.... or children shot other children or shot themselves... etc. etc. For me, it's not just an accident but cynical. Example of all, I created a thread over 8 years old boy shot himself few weeks ago... Some gun supporters look for excuse to defend their guns to deny... I see their argument is really weak. There're more safe places in the world than the US that don't allow guns.

See the example: school shootings are higher in America around the world...

Can you please explain why Gun control law doesn't work in America than many countries who have gun restriction around the world?

can you provide statistic on that? You make it sound like it's very common.

I believe there're plenty of links were being spread out in several Gun Control threads where we debated last Summer 2008. If you want to fresh your memory then go to search and type "Gun Control" then you will find plenty of links in the list of threads.

They're more common in America where the laws about owning guns are very different to the UK.

In the UK there have been no school shootings during the years you've been at school and there's no reason to think there will be.

And the most dangerous sorts of gun have been banned. Hand guns like the one the gunman had in the Virginia shooting are banned in the UK.

It's thought there are around 250 million guns in America and it's much easier to buy one there.

If you're 18 or older you can buy a gun from a recognised dealer if you have a computerised background check. But if you buy one from a non-registered dealer you don't need to be checked.

The American Constitution, which sets out the country's rights and freedoms, says people are allowed to "keep and bear arms".

That was one incident over 30 years ago.

deafskeptic's post remind me of what I read newspaper. What's your point?

That's tragic but that doesn't seem frequent.

not frequent?

I would suggest you to search the threads over deaf people was being shot or taser mistake by Police Officers and people.

Did the investigation prove that the officers were "too lazy" or did they confess to being "too lazy?"

Where have I say anything in my post that investiagation prove or they confess to being too lazy?

Do you have statistics to prove that?

Plenty of links were being spread out in Gun Control law debate threads in the past. I would suggest you the same thing what I did to Jiro in my previous post.

Where do you get this notion that people shoot and kill other people "because they are too lazy to run after them"?

Where have I say anything in my post where I get this "notion" from?

Visit Gun control threads and shooting/taser threads and re-view the whole posts including links and also video as well...

We use our good common sense to view the whole posts including links and also video as well, don't we?

Well, at least we aren't "Europe's Gun culture."

Did I said that American are Europe's Gun culture?

Yes, it's really sad... :( One deaf man was being beat up by Police Officers in other thread because the cops thought deaf man tried to threat to kill them... which it's not... A deaf man want to pick the piece of note and pen up to make written conversation with them... Police Officers should not make quick judge and think deaf man get weapon... It make Police Officers paraniod more and more... that's why I support gun restriction like what we have here in Europe countries.

It's not my POV about GOP takeover in congress in 1994 after Bill Clinton passed gun restriction law, it's true that what I know about it.

There's word for you, 2nd amendment represent citizens to right to own gun, even some of gun control law has been violate of 2nd Amendment like DC made banned to own gun for citizens then struck down in supreme court. Crime isn't matters and every states have different regulation and law for guns, some states are strict gun control law since many of them are normal. Majority of Americans don't want follow EU on gun control law, including me, Jiro and Reba because our society is different from EU, much different for sure.

You said gun control law don't work in America, I have say again, black market, it has been done for many years and there's plenty of people got gun from unlicensed gun seller or retailer, it's not easier to rid of black market and increase more gun control law will cause increase of black market in our country, I'm not talk about EU.

BBC is anti-American biased.

What happen if group of 3 persons come to your home and keep intensive shooting then you will have nowhere to control yourself without gun, even too dangerous to make path to call 911 and you will be fail, same with armed robber who break in your home and intensive shooting in your house then you would too late to help, remember, our society is different.

I did not suggest you (Americans) to follow EU gun control law but share exchange of view.

No, it's not anti-American biased but information because everyone from around the world want to know. I use the BBC and MSNBC news because the news and also information, they spread for around the world, not just America.

I repeated to answer the same questions in several gun control threads in the past.

You need look at history of homicide rate in 1900's and 2000's, our country is always number like that for many, many years.
List of countries by intentional homicide rate to 1999 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't expect you would fail to process when crime is happen to your place in our country because our society can trick you in any minutes.

I know that other crime than murder in UK and some Europe countries are much higher than our country, I found link in few days ago and lost it, Jiro should able to find it.

Violent crime involving the use of a weapon, overall, is still lower in European countries than the U.S. While crime is rising in Europe, with the exception of Germany, crime rates in America, overall, are not reducing at a rate great enough to say that crime rates in America are less than those found in Europe.

Surprisingly, the highest rate of homicide is found in Africa.
