How about some non-conservative sources:

The New York Times has provided a link to obtain the job application Barack Obama is asking people in line for senior positions in his administration to fill out.

The Obama transition team is sending a seven-page, 63-item questionnaire to every candidate for Cabinet and other high-ranking positions in the incoming administration.

A seven-page questionnaire being sent by the office of President-elect Barack Obama to those seeking cabinet and other high-ranking posts may be the most extensive — some say invasive — application ever.

Oh, of course. I'm certain that people in line for Cabinet positions are applying online. :giggle:

And the fact still remains that there is no indication that gun owners would be exempted from employment at all.

You'll have to take that up with the Obama transition team; it's their high-tech generation way.

Exempted? Do you mean excluded?

Exempted? Do you mean excluded?

Exempted means exlcuded. Exempted from consideration for employment based on the fact that they are a registered gun owner. Excluded from consideration for employment based on the fact that they are a registered gun owner. Either one is grammatically and sematically correct.

Unfortunately, yes it does

In fact, it isn't uncommon for severely mentally ill or Deaf people to be shot by police because they don't respond to their requests. I think it's sad. :(

Yep. I've lost a friend that way. I remember him running around the track saying I'm proud of the deaf and then one day a friend of mine tells me the cops shot him because they mistook him for someone else and when he didn't respond they shot him dead.

No, exempted means excused from an obligation.

No, exempted means excused from an obligation.

Only in certain contexts.
Roget's Thesaurus cites the following as synonyms for exempted:
Excused, excepted, and excluded.

As long as the meaning is still "freed from obligation" which it is not in your sentence. Your sentence is not one of those "certain contexts".

Oh, well, it's not worth losing sleep. :)

I'm very sorry to learn the loss of your friend. I remembered from read the newspaper around late 1970s that a shoplifter in America was being shot to kill by police officers because they were too lazy to run after him. They were shock after learn that a shoplifter was deaf that's why he can't hear them.

Police can carry guns. Just not the civilians. I know as after the Terrorist attack a few years ago a guy was shot by the police as he was running to catch a train. They thought he was a terrorist but it was all a big mistake.

Yes I remember... Police Officer took it very badly and never touch the gun ever again.

Yes, the person was killed.

Do things like this happen in USA?

I would say it's not rare but real A LOT... that's why I support gun restriction because US Gun Control law is too easy for the people to buy guns... and use the gun to kill anyone because they are too lazy to run after them...

I would call USA as an "America's Gun culture".

Yeah, and when it asks you about Facebook, mySpace, etc, your First Amendment is taken away!

Get real! They want to make sure you are morally, ethically and legally fit for the government job. They are NOT going to discriminate you just because you have guns!

Yeah I second that.

I can understand that they want to make sure. Its about safety. I see nothing wrong with that.

BLAME on police, not just for guns.

Again, you made missed point, we do have gun control and background check but only problem is black market, that where sell guns to citizens without license, also sell illegal guns as well. There's alot of black market in our country and can't be protected, if increase more gun control then means more black market, not easier to rid of it.

We don't need follow EU gun policies, black market has been spread to somewhere in EU, Russia has loosen the gun control law, you could find via google and allows citizens to own guns.

Homicide rate in Russia is much higher than our country, same with South Africa, Brazil and some other countries.

Yes I aware that the gun is not blame but it's the people who use the guns to kill anyone. Please read my post... I said that the police/people USE the gun to kill anyone because it's easy for them than run to catch after the crimes.

Yes, I aware it that's why I do not support for ban the guns but I beleive in gun restriction to make sure that the people who suffers mentially illness should not get liescne to own the gun. The kind of guns like UZI, machine guns, etc are easy to sell in America than in EU.

We have few guns to sell in a store, not like UZI, machine guns, etc. just handguns... and get liescne here in Germany... Many Germans are not interesting to own guns... maybe for hunters... business owners... Gun crimes are low in EU countries to compare America.

Black Market guns

Yes I only know that Homicide rate in South Africa is higher in the world.

Gun restriction law would cause increase more republican and democrat with pro-guns (conservative/moderate) on seat in congress to overturn Obama's gun restriction, that's compare to Bill Clinton in 1994, republican has took seat and became majority in 1994 to overturn Clinton's gun restriction, it would happen in 2010.

In our country, majority of citizens are pro-guns.

For me, I prefer to keep same gun control in our country, not tighten or bill could be killed.

can you provide statistic on that? You make it sound like it's very common.

Oh, well, it's not worth losing sleep. :)

One can be excluded or exempted from many things, obligation being only one of them.

That was one incident over 30 years ago. That's tragic but that doesn't seem frequent.

Did the investigation prove that the officers were "too lazy" or did they confess to being "too lazy?"

Where do you get this notion that people shoot and kill other people "because they are too lazy to run after them"?

I would call USA as an "America's Gun culture".
Well, at least we aren't "Europe's Gun culture."
