True Life: I'm Deaf

Alot of relationships fall apart because of communication problems. Some couples are able to work through it, and others are not. It just depends on how much both people in the relationship care about each other.

To show you an example from my past experiences, I once tried dating a hispanic guy, but it simply didnt work out becuase his accent was so thick I could scarcely understand his English and my Spanish is very limited at best. I really didnt foresee him taking up ASL. A lot of our conversations was one or both of us having to repeat was said. In the end we both agreed that the communication barriers were too much trouble to try and work through so we kindly parted ways on good terms.

dang... it's not Saturday 7pm.... poop....

I just downloaded from iTunes and watched it.

It talks about 2 people, 1 guy from NJ who want got CI and other lady from Baltimore area, she's working on tryout for dance at Baltimore Ravens then she don't got it but she got it for cheerleader at soccer.

it has CC?!?

Pinky, if you're seeing this thread, you should watch the MTV show since you're curious about how a CI might affect you. It's pretty informative. I thought it was, anyway.

Are you able to purchase episodes of TrueLife from iTunes?

Nevermind, I was overlooked on day of re-air, it was on Saturday then too late to post.

I downloaded it off of iTunes & watched it yesterday night. First off I'm huge fan of True Life I watch it all the time & have seen probably every episode. Secondly that episode was a step of from the usual episodes. I liked Amanda a lot I thought she was very inspiring & talented. As for Chris, I thought he was okay, & I thought it was cute that he had a girlfriend eventhough she was a total airhead & it seemed like she was really just a pawn. Anyways high 5 Mtv.

ITA. She was a total airhead. Chris cleary voiced "what's up"? Girlfriend didn't get it. Chris fingerspelled: W-H-A-T-S U-P? Girlfriend sits dumbly. Finally, Chris concedes and gestures for a pen. Funny, she understood that loud and clear.

I have to do that with my mom, we're both learning ASL but I'm way far ahead of her and I'll even voice what I'm signing and sometimes she still won't get it, and I'm hearing so my voice is fine, ha ha, some people are just like that.

True Life- I'm Deaf (Yes, I was OVERLY LATE!)

I finally saw this episode yesterday (11/9). I thought it blew! I thought it was full of crap. I felt like the show put a wrong imposition on the Deaf culture, IMO. I mean, both "guests" were directed toward the "hearing" world. I want to see true Deaf culture, not hearing-predominated world.

For example: Chris................... He got a fucking CI. The other girl, I forgot her name... it was like she was embarrassed that she's deaf... She speaks and I didn't see a drip of sign language on the show. I don't like the girl for some reason... She just seemed too good for the Deaf culture.

I hope Chris realizes he HATES CI. This show just imposes an oppressed hypocrisy of the Deaf culture.

It's MTV. Can't expect them to give a clear unbiased opinion, can you? I'm not excusing the program nor your feelings on it, but have you SEEN the other crap reality shows and programs that make up MTV?? Horrible.:noway:

Are you saying you "hate" people who get CI's? BTW in case you haven't noticed the world IS hearing dominated. Do you "hate" anybody who isn't exactly like yourself. If so, you are a shallow fool who is no better than any hearie or any person for that matter who is prejudiced toward another person.
