I voted early October 16th in Precinct 65 Concord/Farragut (Knoxville, Tennessee) for a straight Democratic ticket including Obama/Biden. I had no problems with the eSlate computer voting machine except for being a bit lost to find my access code to the machine. Worse is Concord/Farragut is a very RED (Republican) precinct. Took me only 10 minutes to be in n out the town hall.

I think Im gonna really piss my grandmother off cuz I voted against Lamar Alexander for his Dem opponent, Bob Tuke, in the US Senate. Sen. Alexander was a friend of my grandaddy and even slept in Grandaddy's house when he was Governor of Tennessee. Seems so far I'm the only rabid Democrat in the family

I did vote earlier for 2004 (Kerry/Edwards). Only time I actually voted on Election Day was in 1992 when I voted Clinton/Gore in California.

Feels good to be voting early cuz I wanted to beat the crowds on November 4th. I even got my friend to vote with me too lucky me he did vote straight Democratic ticket.

yup 3 days ago via absentee ballot. i think you know who i voted for :ily:

yeah figuring ur posts...good guess. Did you have to either mail it in or deliver it to the Election Commission?

yea mailed. Sealed it into certified signed envelope.... and then put it into another envelope. They're surely paranoid with it :laugh2:

Do you think that it's a good idea to mail election votes? Don't you feel that this is not a secure way to vote?

it's no worse than voting on electronic machine that does not print out record. It could be broken, tampered, etc. Nothing's secured anyway... :dunno:

Yes.

37 out of 39 Washington counties vote-by-mail due to what happend in the Governor's race a couple of years back in Seattle with the absentee ballots.

It's affordable and cheaper. Plus the individual gets their ballot mailed to their home address, po box, etc and have the time to think about what they want to vote for. No pressure.

After we vote--we put it in an envelope, signed it, and put it in another envelope.......

I already voted in this state. Now I just hope we don't have another fiasco in the Governor's race like we did a couple of years back.......

Not yet, will vote on Nov 4th.

There's issue about Obama is in court about situation with natural born.

It doesn't matter. The Congress will allow him to become the president even if he's not born here. That's what the Congress did with McCain even though McCain was not born on American soil.

Yes I voted. It was at a satellite voting station, and you were just really filling out absentee ballot and sealing it in an envelope.

Yup, I got it then nevermind after confirmed of 2 link that Pinky posted it is false.

what happened with the governor's race?

Yeah, same with my immediate area, if not the whole state. We are going to vote manually and the people that are responsible for the ballots are saying that it is going to be a huge nightmare.

I voted yesterday and it left NO paper trail at all. My vote is at the mercy of a computer that can crash and lose all data.

And if we need to count again, it's impossible.

what happened with the governor's race?

We had a recount--3 times!

The Democrat won by 130 some votes because the missing ballots "magically appeared" in Seattle.....

You want to know what the worse thing is??? The Democratic incumbant is in the race with the same Republican from 4 years ago! Again!

I hope the Democrat governor wins by a landslide this time, she has done wonders for this state.

I prefer to vote on election day. It feels more like participating in a national event. The only time I voted absentee was when I had to because of military assignments.

Except for people traveling, in the military, sick, disabled, or elderly, I don't see any reason for people to vote early or by absentee.

Election day used to be special, an historic event for all American voters to participate in together.

I understand your point of view but I tell you that my day at the city hall - two hours waiting in the line is too long! Imagine if it was on election day, it could take 4 hours or worse. I don't think they're equipped to handle massive voter turnout.

I am glad they decided to do early voting.

I agree and I think it would be neat if they shut down all businesses and government to get people to vote on Election Day.

Make it a national holiday.....

There has been some discussion about making it a national holiday.

S. 1922 (is) To amend chapter 61 of title 5, United States Code, to make election day a legal public holiday, with such holiday to be known as ``Freedom and Democracy Day''.

That would be cool. :)

Some states recognize election day as a holiday.

The college where I work will be closed on election day. It's not a polling place, so that's not the reason.

Some states don't allow early voting.
