If you're going to use your email address for online purposes, then I suggest you use at least 2 email accounts. One email account would be for personal and private purposes such as family, friend, and work. The other email account would be for online use such as signing up online for forums, for those online quizzes, or any other online service where they ask you for your email address. Those sites use your email for advertisement purposes. That email will get a lot of spam.

If you use Gmail, they have a great spam filter. :)

For your personal email, tell your friends and family members to NOT forward chain email and jokes because that is how it also spreads. When something like that is forwarded, more email is shown to the public in that email. Let's suppose one out of 1,000 people had their email hacked. When that's hacked, hundreds and thousands of emails are already revealed. :(

Yep, that is a good advise, vampyrox!

In the past I warned some friends who forwarded bulk emails not to use To: but instead use BBC: but some of them didn't listen or understand so I had to use a new email address for those ones only then it worked out for the best.

Some people definitely need some basic education as how to do proper ways using emails to respect others. lol

It's why I have several email addresses for whatever purposes are. Like both Yahoo and Gmail the best for those kind of purposes.

Internet is much like wild wild west after all.

I've had a few of them accuse me of not being a good friend for telling them not to forward those chain emails.
