Does Verizon FIOS (Fiber Optic Service) internet have in your area?

NO!

my mom is customer of comcast but i dont think my mom would trade of verizon!

sara1981, do you have a purpose for not encouraging to switch to verzion?

Philips, that depends to the availablity of your area, and better detemine and compare the price range you pay for between comcast and vezion -- Good luck!

im tell you truth,jacob

my mom DID connect include comcast cable for tv and internet both not from verzion!

We have Verizon FIOS

I switched Comcast (former Garden State Cable) Cable Internet to Verizon DSL then upgrade to FIOS.

I never like Comcast's price, capped and internet speed as crazy (often slow during peak hour - some time dead internet for 5 to 20 minutes)

About 7 or 8 years ago, I switched to Verizon DSL. Save half price (DSL $29 vs Comcast $65), nice speed internet as stead, very rare dead internet.

Last Jan, we accept to upgrade FIOS include TV, phone. It cost me $89 per mo. We noticed that little improving clear video phone. We tried download - WOW superfast download.

One thing, I am not happy with Verizon FIOS TV's HD box. Poor Closed Caption + HD BOX with HDMI cable (standard program - too fast CC and HD program - some program are poor to read text) If, you want to watch Smallville on HD program - 60 percent lost CC. Standard TV box is great CC.

VZ Fios isnt ready available in my area (DC) :( so cant help u on pro/con, Phillips or anyone else, sorry

Yes its just in my local now :) but I see about Poor Closed Caption :hmm:

I complained about HDTV box with DVR "QIP6416-2" made by Motorola.
Someone told me that Comcast had Motorola HDTV Box. Still poor CC.

If, you do not have any HDTV at home. FIOS's TV standard box is fine.
I heard that Verizon will have new model HDTV box.

I have no idea what model, do you have HDTV at home.

If, you will take Verizon FIOS with HDTV Box. My suggest to use Component video cable for any standard TV program. HDTV box turn CC off and your HDTV turn CC on. It will be fine. If, you jump to HD program then you have to turn HDTV box CC on.

Component video = Component video - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HDMI cable is not great for any standard TV program. You can't fast read CC on children education TV program. Just okay for local news like live CC.

I have 5 years old Panasonic HDTV with built-in cable card. Cable card give me great CC.
This cable card still useful on TIVO HD Box.

That's sad news, All new HDTV do not have built-in cable card.
Somehow, they have some HDTV have built-in "QAM turner". I never try it before.
Soon, Sony will have new model - different from QAM turner. I forget what is call.....

FiOs are teh best for internet.

Very high speed. 10/2 mbps, that's really fast. But right now I'm using Time Warner's turbo boost internet. 15/2, a lot faster than FiOs for some reasons :\

Wow, faster bandwidth speed than cable and dsl. You can use different videophones in same time.

Yes, we do that...
No big different between DSL and FIOS.
For example: My wife use VP-200 call someone. I use OJO or webcam to call someone. It still clear.

Good place to visit this website.

Not feel like to play around to find highest. Just good enough to pick two different. Not often, I got above 25/5 during peak hour at night.

My Highest speed: my home and Wash DC

My lowest speed - my home and near Cuba
