Time for me to take y'all to the 1964 New York's World Fair where the VP made its debut . Look at the prototype VP's and comapre it to the Sorenson VP. Amazing isnt it almost 45 years of progress with this technology?

here's the linkie:

The Star Trek vp's sure looked so futuristic for a '60's science fiction show. but hell Star Trek did predict what we would get 40 years later. (and not to mention 2 centuries earllier! :) ) Plus $145 a month and 21 cents a minute were considered charged had Ma Bell decided to release it after the 1964 NYWF. Lucky for us Ma Bell sat on the vp technology until the Internet came along.

Awesome! for 1956 Plymouth's gearbox.

ASL Mobile now but FCC not yet approved video callings for mobile and cellphone. :(
MobileASL University of Washington

You know I went to the University of Washing last summer and got my hands on these thing, it is an import phone from Europe and they made a software in it, the video quality is ok-ok because we were in public place, but it is viewable!

Yes, I had used picturephone (video conference) to call in first time during my college life. The equipment was too bulky, the controls too unfriendly, and the picture too small. Picturephone was still big, expensive, and uncomfortably intrusive.

I read 1960 to 1974 on message that fast connect on public phone??? I remember I use modem 300 later 2400 later 56k baud, they never vidophone, but how 1963-1794 phone with TV are fast???? not from phone company???

yeah, took 45 years. Because they do not have right networking to seperate each calls. I recalled reading article online mentioned that VideoPhone back in 50's and 60's so did have issue with privacy. They did not implement it until now cuz of broadband. Back in 1960's was APARNET for UNIX networking which is very new back then.

So here we arrived to Internet Age and able to keep it private via IP address.

lol, I wish Star Trek: Voyger's Doctor Holograph. it is best than Star Wars' Holograph

Holographic imaging. That's what it called

As for 3D Holographic Imaging, Biggest issue is the camera must be positioned in 3 different places (triangulation) in order to make it 3D Holographic viewing. Then to the end of the line, must have 3 projectors or screen with mirrors to make it look like 3D image. You must sit in one place in order to have your 3D video image. Sending and receiving 3D image through Broadband MAY NOT be a problem since they combine and compress video image and decompress and expand on other end. There are currently several ways to have 3D Holographic imaging Display, such as one piece slanted high speed spinning mirror in the middle and using one projector above it or Spinning stick of colored LED in a container to make it look like 3D image (currently seen at some Malls or Convention centers or being in use for Medical for Dr to view heart, or other parts of body)

You MIGHT have recalled seeing Coin operated Holographic 3D games back in late 1980's or early 1990's. The characters on the 3D imaging table looks like monster with axe and other with big bat. I saw one at the bowling alley game area. It use 3 displays and mirrors (individual display have one color each, Red, Green, Blue and Mirror "combines" image into one.) I didn't play this game but trying to put my hand into 3D monster character image and grab it look so cool!! It's like trying to grab a ghost

IT IS Possible only if you saciface your livingroom space for "Holographic" Videophone booth with 3 cameras or 3 cameras set in triangular position.

You can easily build 2D (not 3D) Holographic TV screen by using smoke screen. Or use silk cloth and Projection TV hidden behind the screen. It'll be great for upcoming Halloween night. I believe 2D Holographic imaging are POSSIBLE for future Videphone .

Touchscreen Computer Dispaly Floats in Mid-Air

It's interesting. This screen use air flow or smoke forced through long "air blade" nozzle so display can be shown. It's the projector behind the table projects screen on smoke. You can see flutters on end..
