Cindy McCain's $300,000 Outfit for the RNC

No, it equates to ethical behavior and making your actions match your words.

Can you prove they do? To date, the only information we have indicates that Cindy McCain did, indeed, appear at the RNC in a $300,000 outfit.

But then her husband classifies anyone making less than 5 mil as middle class. Go figure.

As Obama said - "It's not because John McCain doesn't care.... It's because John McCain doesn't get it."

So all those long-suffering liberal candidates and their families at conventions are wearing Goodwill outfits and accessories?

What ethical behavior is being broken by Cindy wearing expensive clothing? Were they gotten illegally? What words did she speak that conflict with wearing expensive clothing? Did she say, "I never wear designer clothing"?

I'm beginning to think that you're getting desperate in your search for criticisms if you have to get so picky about the outfits of candidates' wives.

The behavior is indicative of the attitude, and exactly how out of touch the conservatives are with the values they claim to uphold.

Hey.... What about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (JFK's wife) is one who wear expensive cloths during JFK's president term.

Wow, $300,000 could do a lot for so many starving families. Why didnt she sell her overpriced outfit and use the money for charities? Who needs a $300,000 outfit? Not only her but movie stars or other celebrities too. They are just throwing money around. Also, why the high price for an outfit? The fashion designers are just as greedy if they are putting high price tags on their designs.

Yes, I love Gucci and Prada but I wouldnt buy them..just their imitation designs.

That's right. Ironically, Pat Nixon, wife of JFK's Republican opponent, wore a simple cloth coat while Jackie wore couture designs.

Yea...and she was admired for that, wasnt she? Interesting how times have changed...

How do we know that she doesn't sell or donate them after wearing? Some First Ladies donate their outfits to the Smithsonian and other organizations. The clothing of some famous women, such as Princess Di, is used to raise money for charities.

Of course, maybe she wants to get a few more wearings out of it first. ;)

Jackie's fashions were praised, admired, and copied by women all over the country (and world).

I think in my opinion, it is tasteless to wear it even if it was a gift or was spent using her money because this country is suffering with the economy the way it is. I just think it is tasteless of her to go that far...if it was a $500 outfit, not too bad but $300,000? Many of us do not even make that much a year. I just think it was tasteless to wear something so extravagant at a public event representing her husband and his beliefs.

Don't forget, Cindy McCain didn't brag about the price of her outfit and accessories. Those prices are just guesses from a fashion department. We really don't have any idea how much her outfit cost or how she acquired the various pieces. People shouldn't make judgments when they don't even have all the facts to support them.

If she had dressed "cheaply", I'm sure she would have been criticized for that, too. There are some situations that are "lose-lose" no matter what one does.

Like I said maybe somewhere in the $500 to $1,000 range...:giggle:

Honestly, in general, I think any outfits costing that much whether it is on her or on a movie star is way overboard.

you kind complain about Cindy. How coming you didn't complain on Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. :hmm:

Well, Jackie Onassis is dead. And, she did not put herself in front of the public in the same way that Cindy McCain is attempting to. Jackie Kennedy spent her time avoiding the spotlight, not searching it out.

Tricky Dick wouldn't give her a check book!:giggle:

Jackie O was admired for her sense of style and her poise and grace. People actually knew very little about her or her habits, as she avoided the spot light, and did not participate in political campaigns by making speeches at conventions extolling the virtues of the man to whom she was married.

She wasn't dead at the time. All the candidates' spouses are putting themselves in front of the public; I don't know how much they desire it. In this media frenzied country, the wife who doesn't get out before the cameras for her candidate husband is rare indeed.

Do you have documentation that Cindy is seeking the spotlight for personal reasons rather than promoting her husband's candidacy?

And when JFK was running for office, I wasn't old enough to understand what the issues were, much less vote. And Jackie O is dead now. She has nothing to do with what is going on in this campaign what so ever. Nor was she, prior to her death, connected in a public way to anything political after her husband's death. Even during his office, she did not choose to be a public figure, did not make political speeches, and kept her views quite private.

I didn't say she was seeking the spotlight for her personal gain. I said she was seeking the spot light. No matter what the motive, she is placing herself in that position.
