Obama supporters?

No, dear, civil rights are the personal rights of the individual. The ADA is a civil rights law.

well just giving you some tiny distinctions. the "rights" you're concerned about that McCain is trampling over has to do with security. Look at Bush. He eroded our "civil rights" but we're still fine.

But Obama wants to take away our personal rights such as Amendment 2 and others - something that we use every single day.

Not if you an American that happens to be Middle Eastern descent or a Muslim......

exactly my point. I don't think many of AD'ers are of Middle Eastern descent or a Muslim which is why it's not big concern for me (I know I shouldn't say but.....) and "personal rights" such as Amendment 2, Freedom of Speech, etc. are a priority to me.

Obama is a threat to "personal rights" and McCain is a threat to American citizens who are of Middle Eastern descent or illegal immigrants.

No. The rights I am concerned with are the proposed changes to the ADA, educational equity, health care access, etc. etc.

How exactly is Obama a threat to "personal rights"? McCain is a threat to all of the American public, irregardless of ethnic background.

ah... now I'm going have to check on that for myself

Again, a lot of fears are either unfounded or just plain silly.

I view McCain as a bigger threat to this country, especially since he has no problem with starting/fighting more wars that will only get this country in deeper shit.

In fact, he was taking money from a Georgian lobbyist not too long ago to help push the interests of the Georgian Republic. He did get rid of that lobbyist though.

That post does not explain how Obama is a threat to the civil rights of the American public. It only details his position on concealed weapon laws. Perhaps if this country were more inclined to uphold the basic civil rights of all of its citizens, one would not need a gun to protect oneself. There would be much less social anger and frustration.

And suspicion of others.

I'm curious about this. Could you explain further?

Like I said - This is not whole-fully about guns. Right-to-carry permit holders exhibit a self-sufficiency that doesn't fit into Obama's mindset of weak citizens dependent on government. It is typical Democratic stance - to have bigger federal oversight to regulate our life, to dictate what's good or bad for us. That is Obama's stand.

About your comment - "Perhaps if this country were more inclined to uphold the basic civil rights of all of its citizens, one would not need a gun to protect oneself. There would be much less social anger and frustration." Actually we were given more rights than during Clinton Administration. We actually have guns which many were banned under Clinton Gun Ban - self-sufficiency and basic civil rights of all citizens!
