I keep saying that too, but no one seems to notice.

Yes, I want us to drill wherever we can to get enough oil so we don't have to depend on imports. BUT I ALSO WANT US TO EXPLORE AND USE OTHER SOURCES OF POWER, SUCH AS WIND, SOLAR, HYDROELECTRIC, AND NUCLEAR. I ALSO SUPPORT CONSERVATION EFFORTS BY INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES, GOVERNMENTS, AND ORGANIZATIONS.

I'm out of breath. Whew!

Then shouldn't we focus on that instead of "Let's go drilling in ANWR?"

Byrdie, did you see post # 82?

Well, Byrdie, allow me to allay some of your tree-hugging fears! Of all the places I have been to, Alaska's my favorite. I trust those in Congress who set up regs as to where in the ANWR oil & gas drilling can take place. I don't think most people really know just where this area is. The area allowed within the ANWR for drilling is a relatively tiny area. This area is neither a refuge nor wilderness; it was specifically set aside by Congress for oil and gas exploration because of its well known evidence of said commodities. It has practically no life and is barren.

So let's be careful not to believe the entire area of ANWR is open to exploration. In fact, the area set aside for this activity has a footprint of just 2, 000 acres! That's what.....less than 1/2 of a percent of the entire area.

The thing that bugs me is that development cannot proceed without Congressional say-so and they (we all will) rue the day that this issue was on the back burner for so long. Had they proceeded ten years ago there and elsewhere in the USA, we would be online now!!!! It takes about that long! Get some backbone, already, Congress!!

The issue then becomes moot because if they start to drill in one part of the ANWR, then they want to drill in other areas of ANWR.

I still don't understand how 1989 is "not ten years" . . . did someone change the math rules on me?

No, Congress is not entertaining any ideas for drilling in any other part of the ANWR; heck, they can't even get their collective rears in gear to get that which has already been approved!

Oic, are you a naturalized American citizen?

In Fact, I am not american. I am germany and not yet american citizen.
True, normally I lived in Germany and never involving to voting. I am neutral. everyone Politics BULLSHIT!!!!

Then who is going to foot the bill? Afterall we are having enough economic troubles as it is.
The companies that want to profit should pay for the exploration, development, and production.

Ha, ha. How much trade in do you think I can get for a '95 Cherokee?

Car payments would still cost more than gas savings, so it's not worth it.

Gas is now $2.79! Dropping!

What??? You means $3.79?

Oops! Typo. We just paid $3.65 for regular gas.

Sorry about that.

U lucky that you live in the Carolinas where gas is cheap! Still around 3.80 here...why is gas so cheap there? Strange.
