Albany, Missouri allow Golf Cart on street to save gas

I almost forgot to post this. Last night I saw a show that showed a fast golf cart with hybrid that can go 50 mph, wow!

Use multi pulley just like drill press as tranny. The bigger pulley on motor and smaller pulley on axle can go fast if you shift gear from small to big on motor gradually. You can easily go over 50mph if you use it. Add a bit more batteries too for better torque

:laugh2: Good idea, the batteries won't be cheap.

I wonder when we'll be seeing episodes of "Pimp My Cart" or "Queer Eye for the Straight Cart" :hmm:

How about this?

:giggle:

A Golf cart that resembles a 1966 Ford Mustang GT!

Golf carts?? Then you might want to look into Zenn cars at ZENN Motor Company Maximum speed is 25 mph.

I thought it looks like Fortwo and I just read Fortwo specs and it looks like it is hybrid rather than all electric.

I just found this site: Electric Auto Association - Electric Vehicles and Cars Electric Auto Association which sounds good to me.

That Zenn looked interesting, but I couldn't find how much they cost?

I think it might be really expensive to buy one. Am I wrong?

I wonder what differences are between an actual microcar and a golf cart. I saw one (a microcar) drive by yesterday.

I thought 'microcar' is called NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicle). I am not sure what is the difference between a NEV and a golf cart. I think a NEV is closed car while a golf cart is opened car.

Bottesini, according to this link: NEVs Zenn would retail for $11,000 to $13,000 and that sounds good to me. I don't drive much so this would be perfect for me. I don't know about the insurance cost.

Also in the same link, there is a list of NEVs. There are so many to choose from. E6 can carry 6 people. Interesting!

That is a good price. I can't buy a car for a long time, but I really will consider the Zenn next time.

I was thinking more along the lines of the "Smart" Car (www.smart.com) These can go faster (up to 90m.p.h. not that I ever would!) with a stronger engine and, where I can, are assigned a license plate just like a car. Many cities have a law against using motorized vehicles on a road without permits/license plates.

It is faster because it is hybrid rather than all electric. Good for someone who use highway, etc. You still need gas for Smart car. Zenn is better for me as I hate highway and I like the fact that Zenn need no gas.

Interesting. JUst saw the website. It wuld be nice during spring, summer and fall but not winter. I sure hope it have side cover to keep u warm while driving in winter. I probably would rather to have one that go over 40mph. Some backroad are 40mph. I wanted it to reach to 50mph hee hee.

The Smart car isn't a hybrid at all. It's just a tiny 1 liter 3 cylinder engine that propels a 1,500 lb car.

The Geo Metro was slightly heavier and had a 3 cylinder engine with less horsepower which was around 55 hp versus smart car with 70 hp.

If I lived near a golf course, I would have an excuse for having one. ;)
