I don't have Camfrog or ooVoo yet. I have a question for all camfrog member. Do you think CamFrog and Sorenson VP are same or different? Can you explain to me?

I'm not impress with VP. Because of black video and disconnected. I am wonder about Sorenson though pc with webcam the best than regular VP TV?

If I am talk to my mom through VRS relay. Can I contact her through vrs when I don't use VP? Do you think Camfrog have VP or not?

My husband and I agreed to stop use a phone. We will rid of phone house soon. Because we don't use phone that much. We are using our cellphone and internet mostly. But how can my mom contact me through vp or webcam?? She is not good at computer. I wish she know about computer.

Please answer my questions. I am looking forward to get a camfrog soon.

I believe the VP is mostly supported by internet, not the phone line, correct me if I am wrong.

Camfrog is not the same as VP, but it is a video chat software, where you can chat to other people by text, or video using their webcams. Camfrog has options for you to use, you can use the free standard version where you can chat by 1 to 1, video or text (Similar to MSN) or $50 one off fee where it can give you mulitple video chats at the same time with other deaf people, ( I think some other AD'ers can explain with this part though - since I have never used it, which it is not worth for me unfortunately)

If you are not using the VP, Sorenson has a computer based VP version on PC but I can assure you it is crap, but best suggestion to use Viable Vision where you can download it for free online (Viable.net Homepage) and you can use this as a VP on PC, as long you have a webcam and a high speed internet. Shouldn't be a problem.

Unless, your mum knows sign language, she can use Viable Vision (if she has a computer and High speed internet) to chat directly to you to your Viable Vision on your PC or your VP - rather using the VRS, but if there is no option, VRS is the option still can use Viable Vision on PC or your standard VP.

And Camfrog doesn't have any option to use VRS, it is just a video chat software that is open to the public but Viable Vision is the VRS version that you can use to call people via VRS on your PC.

Hope this helps :thumb:

Thank you so much! I will check it out link. I can show to my husband.

Yeah, My mom know sign languages. That what my husband offer her to use webcam to chat with me instead of dumb relay on tty. She do like VRS with an interpreter to help her understand that clear. But my mom isn't full ASL.

No worries - you can still use the Viable Vision to call your mother via VRS if you don't really want to use the standard VP, and there is an option for your mum if your mum is confident enough to use VP to VP on computer by using Viable Vision. Just leave any questions you want to ask here, I will come back and check regularly to see if you need any help.
