really sucks.

I was at the court and the interpreter never showed up. so the court was adjourned until next month! I just want this to be over today. TODAY. but unfortunately, no.

then I was told to go to clerk's office to ensure there'll be one for next time. a secretary there was being extremely rude. I apologized for not hearing her at first and she repeated after I said she'll need to write down what she had just said. she mouthed "NO, WHAT IS YOUR N-A-M-E?"

I then demanded for papers and pen again realizing I had left them in another building. rolling her eyes, found a paper and pen, mumbled "gee she's so stupid..." thinking I couldn't read her lips (filled with manures). I kept my cool, wrote down explaining, she totally snatched the paper. while I know people could be just nasty as can be, I stood there dumbfounded. then she did it again. so third time I had the paper, I landed the pen down on paper, pushed it over to middle of the counter and left it there so she'd not do it again. she started yelling at me, GIVE ME THE PEN! I shook my head, no, YOU pick it up, you grabbed twice and that wasn't very nice. she chuckled (or scoffed) and looked around at her co-workers then gave me a stare - give...me...the...pen now (with it right under her fingers!)

gee, so dramatic... ugh. it sucks being deaf. really sucks that I'm about to shoot my head off. :rl: (at least the icon does it for me because I don't).

thanks for listening to my vent.

I would think it would suck to be that lady because it is apparent she is an unhappy woman who hates her job. She is probably jealous of you cuz you are not stuck at her boring job.

Sorry that you had a bad day.

but shela, these (extra hassles) wouldn't have happened if I'm NOT happen to be deaf. I mean there's always something and after another.

Sorry that you are not happy with your deafness. I guess I dont let those hassles bother me cuz I know I am not the one with the problem. These people who treat us like that are the problem.

I used to think being deaf really sucked but that kind of mentality just brought me down and life is too short. Sure I have bad days like these but life is not perfect. I am sure people who are blind, in wheelchairs, or with mental illnesses have to deal with different kinds of hassles.

Freckles, may I dispense this wonderful advice that my mum once told me when I felt sorry for myself becuase I was deaf....

PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER WOMAN!!!

Seriously though its not your fault your deaf, and its no one else's fault either. It was the hand that was dealt to you, and not meaning to go off on a religious tangent, but God knew you would be strong enough to handle it.

You can't change it (well you could, but it usually costs an arm and a leg and it's not 100% successful.)

Instead of dwelling on the downsides, find the upside.

1.) You know ASL - you can have a 'private' conversation between you and a friend in public.

2.) Some places would offer you a discount -IE Museums if you were not able to hear the audio tracks to the tour.

3.) If someone is making a snideful, or stupid comments in general you can look away and tune them out completely.

4.) You can use it as an exscuse to get out of doing a job you hate at work. "I can't do something I never heard you tell me to." (pick and choose carefully though this could backfire on certain bosses.)

yes... there's old saying where god wouldn't create a mountain that I can't climb on. actually I wasn't feeling sorry for myself, I guess life has been treating me shitty. I just don't know how much longer I can take anything anymore really.

thanks shela and dixie.

I am sorry you had such a bad day and not been great. But being deaf is not a bad thing. I know hearing people treated deaf like crap but we always fight back. Being deaf is not a cancer. But I agree with Dixies post. Think postive and good thing can come your way.

GEE how rude she is sighs she need to know better not to be so rude to deafies seems she not very nice person RME!!!

i hate rude people sighs

i know what is like being rude to

yeah... not cancer. thanks garnetigermom. after what happened there, I spoke with the manager, filed a complaint on her. and after I left, there was an older guy tapping on my shoudlers, gave me a note he wrote - said, I saw the whole thing. some people just can be very nasty, don't worry about it and winked then walked away.

I smiled and thanked him. I wish I could feel completely better because whatever has been full on my plate.. actually punch-drinking bowl, never goes down to at least a plate. so sick of it, enough is enough.

gotta have a say to this,

true but soon in 2010? it won't be 'private' anymore lol. everyone around here (cashiers, UPS handler, bank tellers, doctors/nurses, teachers and more) knows our language now...but yes, we still have one under water.
lets go to rainforest together [o:
 :aw: ..okie, let's go there! what will we be seeing today?

Hire your personal interpreter, that would solve the communication problem. :afro:

erm ... I'm not that rich.. care to help and donate? :cool2:

really they didn't have to be rude. at anytime anywhere to anyone. I probably would have hired a rude interpreter as well.

thank you moonflower, smile.

Sorry , you had to experience this rude lady. It's not your fault for being deaf. She just need to be patient, maybe she was having a bad day who knows. Tomorrow is a different day :)

I have a better idea.
Let's make hearing babies.

Try to remember that the person on the other side could have a disability that he/she is miserable with. Sometimes that makes for a bad day alone!

I had a situation like yours at the SSA office once with rude attitude right off the bat aimed at me......so I dished it right back. We kept dishing it back and forth until I asked for the supervisor in a very loud voice. I guess the supervisor didn't "feel like dealing with it" because the guy came back for more with me but a notch down. I got it down a notch also. The guy had a mobile disability! Anyway, A guy who heard the whole thing got up from the sitting room behind me and hid behind a wall next to us so the rude guy couldn't see what he was telling me. He was so funny that I cracked up laughing. The rude guy obviously knew we were talking about him but gave me what I needed. Being deaf sucks now and then but if you enjoy life so much, being deaf is not so bad.....

thanks shela and dixie.

actually, there are plenty of sheer cliff faces and mountains on the planet that are practically unclimbable.

but let's move on from hypothetically unclimbable mountains for a moment.

you should have the last laugh; anyone working for a government office that snaps at people at the slightest irritation is FUBAR and essentially a wasted life, especially this late in the game.

enjoy your youth and take a page out of IslandBreeze07's book.
