I wonder where the mother all this time? The father should be put in jail for locking up his child in a cellar. If I were the mother I kick his bum for this and charge him for abuse. That young woman don't deserve that kind of treatment.

I really honestly cannot understand WHY someone would do something like that. The father has to be a severe sadistic psychopath.(on a par with Jeffery Dahmer) It's strange.....what made him think that he could have sex with his DAUGHTER? Judging from past cases, the mom is prolly gonna be one of those dishrag types or in denial. (Oh he's a wonderful loving father! There's no way he could have done something like this!)

Josef had confessed to the crimes after his initial refusal to cooperate with with the authorities, but tried to mitigate the details.

He showed next to no regrets, authorities said.

During her captivity, Elisabeth gave birth to seven children, results of continued sexual abuse by her father. One infant died shortly after his birth. The father disposed of the body by burning it in the house's central-heating boiler, he told police.

Children had never seen daylight

Police on Sunday evening opened the basement dungeon where she was kept, overcoming several electronic locks set up by Josef F. The rooms were very small and below 1.7 meters (5.5 feet) in height. The basement contained sleeping cots, washing facilities and a TV set, the Austrian press agency reported.

Three Elisabeth F.'s six surviving children were locked in the room with her, until her father let them out a few days ago and claimed the mother had returned home.

For two of her sons, Stefan, 18, and Felix, 5, it was the first time they had seen daylight, police said.

Nobody knew

Elisabeth claimed her mother had not known about her imprisonment. Food and clothing for her and her children had been provided only by Josef.

He had told local authorities that three children, named by police as Lisa, Monika and Alexander, had been left at his doorstep. They attended local schools.

Authorities began searching for Elisabeth when a girl, Kerstin, 19, believed to be her daughter, was hospitalized a week earlier in the town Amstetten.

Amstetten authorities had been originally told by the grandfather that Kerstin, was left with him in a very severe condition on April 19 by her mother. The girl, who is believed to suffer from a rare disease, had also been imprisoned for all her life.

Authorities were also shown a letter by the woman saying that nobody should look for her, as this would increase the suffering of her and her children, making the case even more mysterious.

Story of religious sect confuses case

According to state broadcaster ORF, authorities originally believed the woman had joined a religious sect, as the letter hinted at seclusion and refusal of education for the children.

The woman and the children were being looked after by therapists, police said.

Police are looking for the remains of the dead infant. According to Elisabeth's statement, her father burned the body.

The oldest girl remains in intensive care. Hospital officials in Amstetten declined to comment on the case and said no details about the girl's condition would be made pubic for the time being.

DNA samples of all involved had been taken to establish a fuller picture of the case, police officials were quoted as saying. Results were not expected before Monday, but preliminary indications seemed to confirm the suspected incest, authorities said.

Not the first case

Locals and neighbors expressed shock over the events, reminiscent of the plight of 20-year-old Natascha Kampusch, an Austrian girl who escaped her kidnapper in 2006 after eight years in a basement dungeon.

Her captor, 44-year-old Wolfgang Priklopil, committed suicide after her escape.

"We are confronted with an unbelievable crime," Austrian Interior Minister Guenther Platter said in a statement on Sunday. "It goes above anything I can imagine. It is a dimension where one is almost speechless."

Yep I read the rest of the news on AOL explaining that the father held her captive for 24 years in this hidden bedroom in the cellar of a house in Austria. The room had a thick soundproof door leading to it. He had forced her to have sex with him and have 7 children with her, but one of the infant died so he tossed the body of one of the childern in an incinerator when the infant died shortly after birth. The man is very sick. All those children will never be normal. The case broke when the woman's oldest child, who allegedly lived with her in the basement, became seriously ill and had to be hospitalized. The man should get death punishment!

HOW do you get so messed up that you think that having sex with someone you're closely related to, is OK? This is almost like Flowers in the Attic! UGH......I gotta say, some people really need to experiance severe punishement.
Sure it won't change anything.....but on the other hand this is the type of fucker who when tried will be puzzled as to why everyone is making such a big fuss about things. There are some truly dangerous psychopaths out there. Hopefully, Josef will be locked up in whatever Austria's version of a hoispital for the criminally insane is.

I get the same mentally ill feeling from looking at his eyes, and his expression in the photos published. I also get a decided aura of superiority from him. He is indeed psychopathic and sociopathic. That is what has allowed him to get away with his crimes for so long. Sociopaths are extremely maniulative and charming. They can convince you that the sun is shining when it is pouring down rain. And you are correct. His mental illness is such that he doesn't see that he has done anything wrong. He firmly believes that his actions are justified, and that the rest of society is wrong in judging him.

Yep, it very disgusting of the father to do that to his own daughter. It just came out more deep informations in the morning newspaper today, and it also say that the mother knew something not right. But she still part of the crime. Because she did nothing to save her own daughter. I think that poor girl father and mother both should be thrown in jail for life. When I saw the photo of the girl's father, I knew something about him is mental sick man.
