Here's the story. I did some computer work a few months ago, and just last week, they were supposed to send me a check for the work, and the amount of time from the place it gets sent from to here is 24 hours. It's now close to Monday afternoon, and it hasn't yet shown up, and now I've made an official inquiry as to why I do not yet have it.

I am also of the understanding that the holidays just ended; that's no excuse for a late document, and I wanna know why I don't yet have it, and I'm hoping it did not get stolen along the way, cause if it did, I may never see my pay, and I swear, if I got robbed, I'm not gonna be happy.

No. The work was legit, but the way they handle pay isn't exactly what I'd call great. I'm not sure if the point person responsible for cutting the check remembered to send it or not, and that reminds me, I need to contact that person. I'll let you know.

That is a super idea. :)

Done contacted the person. I'm wondering if they're scrambling or something, cause the pay didn't show up when it was supposed to?

Well! The point person just responded back. Hold please.

Update: It was mailed on time, so I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

With -50 windchill, I would think your mail may be delayed.

I hope they don't give you the runaround.

They said it was mailed last week, but it'll probably take a little longer to get here, which is just about what I wasn't wanting to hear. Ah, well. We'll see if it arrives today or not. Come to think of it, I need to go downstairs and check right now.

That's what I was thinking, too. I highly doubt any mail carriers would want to work in this kind of cold weather-- I would think they'd prefer to stay warm and cozy.

What day was it mailed? From what city?

I think you are getting all worked up prematurely.

Turns out that WAS the case...... I wish I'd done some checking before going barking up the wrong tree. Ah, well. At least the barking was minimal.

When I read the title I thought you either physically misplaced an important paper (like a birth certificate), couldn't find a file you saved on your computer, or got a letter from the IRS saying they can't find any of your tax returns.

Misplaced documents? Yeah, I got those. I was referring to a piece of mail that was sent last week, and hasn't yet arrived, and it usually takes about 24 hours for it to get here, but with all of the snow and bitter cold we've had lately, we've not seen any mail for a while now, so that may be why it's not yet arrived, and I hadn't considered that the Postal Service might keep their workers from delivering mail in such dangerous conditions.

I just went to the post office here in sunny California and it was absolutely packed. People returning things from Christmas, picking up mail after traveling etc. I am pretty sure with weather so cold and all that snow, mail just might be delayed.

Oh by the way, $2.25 to send my daughter in Ireland a simple birthday card.

Yikes!! Note to self: No sending international stuff.
