Why do you want to have kids? Reasons or no reasons?

Oh yes definitely will be taking pictures of them when I visit them at the end of Feb.

I have asked my sister for their pictures - she is just so busy. I won't pester her.

Isabella has black hair and is a feisty one. Caitlyn has brown hair and is the calm one.

Oh oh I have great news to share!

The nieces are home!! I'm thrilled for my sister, BIL and my little nephew. The little nieces are home with the family now. Ahh complete.
congrats! We are expecting a twin from my husband's niece in two weeks, a boy and girl. What an exciting to experience this first time ever.

Why do you want to have kids? I wanted a family and we got it. I love being a mother and now a grandmother. Without have a kid, we will never know what a being parents is all about.

yea oh well. orphanage houses too.

Yeah, orphanages, or "children's homes" as they are now called, are usually very terrible. I lived in one for 3 years and was not allowed an interpreter at all until the very near of the end of my stay there and I and my foster care lawyer took the place to court to demand for an interpreter for during the day. The court ruled in my favor and told them that according to the ADA laws, the children's home would have to hire an interpreter or else I would have to be moved to a foster home. The hellhole gave in and got an interpreter for me. Imagine that, 3 years with no way to communicate except paper and pen. I was very lonely there. being the only deaf kid there.

Anyway, I've been in 7 foster homes after leaving the children's home and in one foster home both parents are women...yep...lesbians...and they were the BEST foster parents ever. I felt so safe there, and much happier. I still visit them whenever I come into my hometown (Milwaukee). They had a little son, and it was so much fun having a little 3 years old boy as a foster brother at the time. They have two children now (via sperm bank) and they are older now and the boy is a very handsome teenager now and a senior in high school now and the little girl has gotten big, I believe she is about 8 years old now, and a very pretty little girl. I've known one of the parents since I was 5 years old because she was my mom's good friend before my mom died. I am so grateful for everything they have done for me. We need more good foster homes like this. I think GLBT people should be allowed to foster and adopt children.

I would like to have two children of our own, a boy and a girl. Two is enough. And we could adopt too.

And as for China's one child policy, I don't agree with it at all. I do agree that people don't need to be like the Duggars or the Octomom but a couple of kids is good. I feel sorry for Chinese baby girls because as I understand it, the culture in China encourages women to try for and keep baby boys rather than girls, and only girls that are hearing and no disabilities. Sad. So many baby girls either get aborted (I'm not sure how early the doctors can detect the gender of the fetus and if it's early enough to abort the baby if it is unwanted)or end up in Chinese orphanages. Sad. One day there won't be any more Chinese women left for the Chinese men to marry and have children with. Then what? I think the Chinese government should change the policy to two children limit so that women would have the chance to have a boy and if the second child is a girl then they would not feel the need so much to give the girl up for adoption. Then Chinese women would not go extinct. Just my thoughts.

I was also placed in foster homes, hmm :hmm: no fond memories there, but hey.. different strokes for different folks.

Also, from what I've heard... most Chinese folks don't resort to adoption when they give birth to a female baby, it's actually much more gruesome :( but I'm an American who merely reads articles, what do I know.

Yeah, I don't really know much about babies in China either.

As for the other foster homes I was in, only two were good, one was okay (no complaints), the other 4 were so terrible, and one of the 4 was from like Norway and didn't speak any English, and had weird rules. The last home I was in, the foster dad was scary. He had the ability to make his 13 years old son (his own) cry like a baby. The mom would threaten to tell the foster dad if I didn't do what she wanted me to do. And my foster sister had the same name as mine! Too weird. And in the middle of no where. That was the last straw and I had more than enough of this bullshit, and I put my feet down and I said to my social worker " I WANT OUT!" and told her I was gonna move out of foster care and get my own place. I had no money but I didn't care if I had to live on the street...it scared my social worker enough that she found a place for me and the foster care agency paid my rent til my SSI kicked in. I moved back to Milwaukee and lived in a high rise efficiency apartment for a while. I am so glad to be on my own and have been on my own ever since. I like to celebrate each year I've been independent for...it's been 11 years now. :D

Congrats on the twins!! I know how excited you was for their arrival and finally they are here!!! :) Adorable names too!!

I have always loved kids, especially tiny ones!! I cannot wait until my cousin's baby who is due on my birthday!! I've been trying to persuade my mum to buy clothes for the baby but she rather wait until we know the gender :)

Growing up and at the beginning of my adult life, I never wanted kids. I had one at 16, gave him up to his father's parents, and now have 2 teenagers. Most days I love them to death, but some days, I wonder "why bother", but I would never give them up.

I didn't lose my vision during pregnancy. My vision is still same. I will see my ophthalmology appointment on Thursday. I will ask her the question. I am not buying deaf people's BS about usher syndrome and RP would lose the vision during pregnancy. I have a friend who have US like me. She never lose the vision during pregnancy. She have 3 kids. Because We have been pray to god to keep our visions still same. I can't understand why many deaf people try to jinx on US/RP women can't get pregnancy due to vision. That is wrong!

Hubby and I love children; we have discussed adoption and will pursue this in the near future.

Having our own biological children isn't feasible for us as medically, I would lose the remaining vision from pregnancy.

My baby is on the way next month. Hooray!!! I am proud to be wife. My husband and I got married first then have kids. We are obey God's will. God made human as children. My husband and I want to have a family for our new life.

It is not B.S. Pinky.

I visited a specialist and was advised about this. I was not told about this from the Deaf community.

The Deaf people did not share this with me, I learned of this from the medical community and I have been researching and still am researching about this. I still will be doing research about Usher's Syndrome. There are other reasons why blind women lose their vision more during pregnancy and it isn't just because of Retinitis Pigmentosa. There are issues relating to health, both mother and fetus.

It is okay, Pinky. I understand how you feel and don't get upset.

Because of various diseases and different incidents the people are losing their eyesight, such as various types of problems in the time of pregnancy, illiteracy, superstitions, diseases, incidents and different kinds of causes after being birth. Early marriage is the significant problem of the other causes. Most of the girls become pregnant early. As a result, the mother and the new born baby lose their vision due to lack of vitamin A. Mean while we are noticing that the youth community are losing their vision bit by bit because of internal eye problems.

Physiologic Ocular Changes Occurring During Pregnancy-

Corneal sensitivity has been found to be decreased in most pregnant women, where a majority of changes occur in the third trimester and then reverse in postpartum. One potential mechanism may be related to the slight increase in corneal thickness that may develop from corneal edema.

Furthermore, an increase in corneal curvature and steepening may also occur. These changes have been reported to develop even in the postpartum period during breastfeeding. However, corneal curvature is reversible upon cessation of breastfeeding.

Contact lens intolerance may occur during pregnancy as a result of a change in corneal curvature, increased corneal thickness/edema, or an altered tear film. In any case, it is recommended that one should wait several weeks postpartum before prescribing to a new refraction. Additionally, decreased or transient loss of accommodation may occur during pregnancy or within the postpartum period.

Newly developed Krukenberg spindles have been observed early in pregnancy. The mechanism presumably is related to hormonal changes (eg, low progesterone levels). However, by the third trimester, an increase in progesterone and aqueous outflow often result in decreased or absence of Krukenberg spindles.

Pinky, please discuss those sensitive issues with your opthamologist. You may or may not see a decreased vision loss. I do understand why you are upset. Once again, it is not a myth or a rumour from the Deaf community. It has been a proven medical fact.

Pinky, what she said.

My old friend who have usher syndrome. She was told by her doctor that she may lose her visions if she gets pregnant. It's not a BS comment.

Congrats Mrs. Bucket on the new arrivals in your family!!!

Thank you sweetie! I can't wait to see them today.

Wow, cuddle them, hold them.

Best of all, sniff their new baby smell! Oh, they are just so small and fragile. I am used to my nieces and nephews being born BIG babies as they were born over 10 lbs. Izzy and Catie (their nicknames) are now 5 lbs - teeny tiny girls!

awww Have fun today. I do miss holding the tiny baby too. So this tiny girl will get a new nickname soon. ha

I don't know if I want kids. I used to, but now that am getting older, I kind of like the freedom of not having kids. I also don't know if I want to bring kids into a world like this. I look at kids nowadays and it's a little scary:shock:!

I said this somewhere but kids actually help you to see the world is good after all. They are also pretty portable:lol: I know what you mean though.

Looking at todays kids is kind of scary......But if all the good people stop having kids then only bad people will have kids.......and then those kids will grow up and be the ones to bring us our 4:30 applesauce dinner and change our Depends! We need good kids for this.
