Prostitution - decriminalize or legalize?

just as one AD'er said - if it was legalized, uncle same would be bringing in a good chunk of source for income taxes. I am sure it would also reduce the STD as other AD'er said as well. Just think - there would be less mud slinging comments, less embarassment, less chance of family breakups, etc etc.

just my 2 cents.

there will be family break-ups and mud-slinging comments and embarrassment if husband/boyfriend/wife/girlfriend was caught shagging a prostitute :laugh2:

And it will be televised on the next....."Jerry Springer". :giggle:

What's the difference between prostitution and porn? Just that one is on video, right?

I believe that if a person is arrested and found guilty should have to register as a prositute. Not meaning they should have their picture posted like sex offenders, but they should be required to get examine, bloodwork and education about finding a real job. Etc.

If not, then get thrown in the slammer for being a threat to society.

They should be made to get testing frequently. Not at each time they get caught.

I have a really bizarro view of prostitution. Like Jiro I think it should be decrimialized - no one getting arrested. At the same time, I think people who just want to have sex with prostitutes should be arrested if prostitution is illegal - but not the prostitutes. Weird, I know.

That's the law some places in europe. Prostitution is illegal, but only customers will be arrested. Some women don't like it because it's a kind of discrimination against women, as they don't get any responsibility, while men get all the responsibility.

I will have to think about that. Sorry I couldn't get back sooner, school and work just gets really busy.

goddam...... I need a skank right now.... :mad2:

Maybe a better idea would be to change the culture so that men don't think that they have to frequent prosistutes in the first place.
In other words maybe it might be a good idea to get rid of the mentality that you're a big man if you have sex with multiple people.
I know some people use prosistutes to get off, if they're not in a realtionship ....and that's fine. Even though I can't remotely imagine just sleeping with someone,(I usually have to be in love with someone) whatever gets your rocks off.

Clue: most guys don't pay for hookers to sleep with them :)

Prostitution....the oldest "profession" in the world!....Even some people have quoted: "Thank God for prostitutes!...A lot less rapes in the world."

I'm against legalizing it!...I've also heard...."you've got a gold mine!...it's right between ur legs"!

Such remarks make my blood boil!..Prostitution, to me, is the lowest profession in the world! Women and even men, who engage in this behavior, to me, are nasty, have low self-esteem, want to make the "fast buck" on their backs (or mouths).

It will always be around! Illegal or legal....there's no stopping it!

Here in Jax, we have a monthly newspaper called "The Justice Coalition"....and they print names and yes, pictures, of those who have been busted for prostitution/offering for prostitution, etc., and the locations where they were busted! Pages upon pages! The jails are full of them! And a few days later, they are right back out there!

Rape and prostitution are not correlated. Rape is a crime of violence and has little to do with sex.

The Justice Coalition is a victim's rights organization. They advocate for those that have been victims of violent crime. Prostitution is not considered to be a violent crime, and in fact, is more often described as a "victimless crime."

What about children, who are raped, then forced into prostitution? Are they called "victimless crimes"? Even adult women.

Prostitutes spread diseases.

Some women/children are forced into prostitution. So all of them are not "victimless", Whether it be for drugs, $$ or the only way they can eat or support their children.

Anyone could become a prostitute, due to loss of job, home or whatever. Feeling it's their only recourse to survive! I would call them "victims" of society.

no, because it make it more difficult to track down child sex trafficking.

let people have their excitment of prostitution (people love taking risks for some reasons). It keep them from "evolving" sexual desire to something else after prostitution is no longer desired.
