    Interpreter student- question/looking for help

No, Deaf upgrading skills- lots of computer classes, more advanced classes that are taught in ASL so Deaf students can improve job skills, things like that. There are not many schools in the area that teach in ASL so it's a popular program in my school

    The Walking Dead

I wonder if the little girls that saved Tyreese took Judith- they ran away from Tyreese but it didn't show if he went with them. Maybe they took the baby and are hiding somewhere with her....

    Interpreter student- question/looking for help

Yes, our school is lucky enough to have a Deaf Upgrade Program just upstairs, and many Deaf students come down to hang out with us during breaks- it's great practice for us, and they love to help us learn ASL :)

How many of you like to save coins in a large container and watch it grow?

I live in Ontario, and last year they 'phased out' the penny- now our change gets rounded to the nearest 5 cents. Definitely makes the change jar a lot lighter. You know those stacks of blank cds that you can buy, that have a plastic dome top that screws onto the base? I use that for my change...

    Maybe it's a taboo topic

I think (and this is just my own opinion) that a lot of it has to do with what was said before- the rules are so intricate in English that it is extremely difficult to explain- even native English speakers don't know them all or could explain them all; they either know them through acquiring the...

    Interpreter student- question/looking for help

We do have a club, but for some reason we never seem to meet/it's more about social stuff. Not much happens when it comes to this stuff :( My classmates are just as confused as I am, that's why I thought I'd try branching out and seeing if I could find some clarification elsewhere.

    The Walking Dead

I never thought of that- the Walkers couldn't undo the belt. Interesting.... Can't wait for this show to come back on!

    Interpreter student- question/looking for help

Hi everyone. I'm an interpreter student in my first year, and am really struggling with some instructions given on an assignment. Not looking for answers or anything, but some advice/insight would be really helpful. Trying to take a spoken English video, create a (pictures only) mind map for...

Student won't watch me interpret! What should I do?

I can't speak for the interpreter aspect, but as for him not co-operating, I wouldn't take it personally. I have a quite a few friends that are 4th grade teachers, and they all say exactly the same thing- the kids get distracted and don't pay attention. It's nothing you can/can't do, they're...

Feedback please - learning ASL in an unusual situation

I'm starting the 1 year course at George Brown this fall, and then will hopefully be continuing into the 3 year interpreter program. From the research I've done, there is a demand in certain parts of Ontario for interpreters, so hopefully finding a job as a freelancer should not be impossible. I...

HOH men...how to approach girls to talk to or ask out on a date?

Speaking as a hearing girl, it wouldn't bother me at all if you were to say up front that you're HOH, or if you asked me to use the mic. Being HOH is part of who you are, so why should you have to be at any kind of disadvantage on a date, even if it's only for a short time? I know not all people...

Just got accepted to Interpreter program, any advice?

hmm, ok that's really good to know...I think this program is a bit different in that the Interpreter program is 3 years long with an optional 1 year "precursor" program (which is what I'll be starting with)...it basically covers ASL 1 and 2, a few courses on Deaf Culture, and the basic start-up...

Just got accepted to Interpreter program, any advice?

hahahahaha awesome :P Actually already kind of done that, but substitute 'lacrosse' for 'hockey'! Both awesome sports! Would it be beneficial to take a level 1 ASL class before starting the program? They teach ASL 1 in the first semester but I thought, hey, might not be a bad idea?

Just got accepted to Interpreter program, any advice?

I just got accepted to an Interpreter program at George Brown college in Toronto, and I know a few others here are enrolled in the same program. Any advice on ways to prepare/things I should know before I get started? I'm really excited, this is something I've been wanting to do for almost 20...
